This World Teachers’ Day, we’re celebrating the Summit educators who inspire, innovate and find new ways to help our students learn and grow.

Many of the programs SEF helps make possible begin with an idea from an educator who asks, “What if we could…?”

At Brayton, SEF funding supports yoga and mindfulness to help students build focus, emotional regulation, creativity and well-being.

SEF supported funds to build a rock climbing wall designed to support preschool and kindergarten students with special needs. Rock climbing incorporates interactive, sensory-rich elements and supports motor skills, sensory processing, and emotional regulation.

New backpacks. New schedules. New teachers. And plenty of big ideas waiting to happen. 📚✏️

Welcome back, Summit!

While students are settling into a new school year, SEF is already getting to work on what’s next.

Last year, thanks to the generosity of our community, SEF awarded 52 grants totaling more than $333,000 across Summit Public Schools.

That means more innovative programs, technology, equipment, professional development and learning experiences that go beyond what the school budget alone can provide.

And we’re just getting started.

Here’s to a 2026–27 school year filled with curiosity, creativity and a lot of really great ideas. 💡

Huge thank you to the class of 1975!

The Class of 1975 raised more than $53,000 during its 50th reunion to support programs in Summit schools.

SEF is pleased to honor Meghan Arts-Scozzari, Sculpture and Ceramics teacher at Summit High School, as the 2026 recipient of SEF’s Nora Radest Award for Excellence in Education.

The award recognizes a Summit teacher or administrator who has submitted grants through the SEF process and, in doing so, has enriched the classroom environment and served as a role model to others in the district.

Meghan has used SEF grants to strengthen the ceramics program at Summit High School, supporting hands-on learning opportunities such as Raku workshops, improved kiln equipment, and professional-level tools for students.

SEF is proud to present the Nora Radest Award for Excellence in Education to Meghan Arts-Scozzari, Sculpture and Ceramics teacher at Summit High School.

This award honors Nora Radest, a past SEF President, board member, and former Mayor of Summit, and recognizes an educator who has used the SEF grant process to enrich learning and expand opportunities for students.

Since 2012, Meghan has helped grow Summit High School’s 3D art program and, through SEF grants, has brought students meaningful, hands-on ceramic arts experiences — from Raku workshops to a new Bailey Thermal Logic kiln for the SHS ceramics studio.
