1974 Men’s Soccer Team – New Jersey Group III State Champions

The 1974 Men’s Soccer Team was more than a roster—they were a brotherhood. Most had played together since grade school, and by senior year, under Coach Lou DiParisi, they turned years of friendship into championship glory. Led by captain Jim Caporaso’s bold prediction—“Next year, we take the championship”—the Hilltoppers finished 18–2–2 and captured the New Jersey Group III State Title with a dramatic 2–1 victory over Ewing. Behind John Combias in goal, Doug Colson on defense, and Matt Bowyer’s clutch goals, Summit achieved perfection: a record that still stands as one of the greatest seasons in program history.

Kady Glynn – Class of 2015 | Lacrosse

In a golden era of Summit lacrosse, Kady Glynn stood tall—literally and figuratively—as one of the best goalkeepers in New Jersey history. Over four dominant seasons, she recorded a school-record 614 saves and earned back-to-back High School All-American honors. Named 2015 New Jersey Player of the Year, Kady anchored Summit’s run of four County Championships and three consecutive State Titles. Her leadership and poise under pressure were unmatched, and her success carried to the collegiate and professional levels, where she remains one of the nation’s elite goalies. A champion, a leader, and a Hilltopper forever.

Lindsay Clark – Class of 1996 | Soccer • Basketball • Track & Field

A rare 12-letter athlete, Lindsay Clark excelled across every season—earning a spot among Summit’s most versatile and accomplished competitors. On the soccer field, she was a dominant right wing and All-State selection; on the basketball court, a four-year starter, captain, and Defensive Player of the Year three straight seasons; and in track, a record-setting javelin thrower whose mark of 117’5” still stands nearly 30 years later. Lindsay’s drive, leadership, and love of competition defined her teams and inspired generations of Hilltoppers to follow her example.

Katie Watson – Class of 2011 | Cross Country • Winter Track • Spring Track

With a smooth stride and unshakable focus, Katie Watson became one of Summit’s most decorated distance runners. A 10-time varsity letterwinner and captain of all three teams her senior year, Katie captured Conference, County, and State Sectional titles—and finished runner-up at the 1600m in the Meet of Champions against future Olympian Ajee Wilson. She set multiple school records in the 1000m, 1600m, and relays, helping her teammates set a Union County 4x1600m mark that still stands. A scholar-athlete and leader, Katie embodied determination, humility, and the true Summit spirit.

Scott Schroeder – Class of 1998 | Football • Ice Hockey • Lacrosse

Few athletes have carried Summit’s colors across so many sports as proudly as Scott Schroeder. A three-sport captain and 11-time varsity letterwinner, Scott was a quarterback and linebacker on the gridiron, a two-time hockey captain, and one of the greatest goalies in New Jersey lacrosse history. In 1998, he earned All-American honors and was named New Jersey Goalie of the Year after leading the Hilltoppers to championship glory. He later captured a Gold Medal at the Garden State Games and was inducted into the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2023. Leadership. Legacy. Loyalty. Scott embodied them all.

Jake Grabowski – Class of 2007 | Ice Hockey • Lacrosse

Whether on the ice or on the field, Jake Grabowski was a scoring machine. A four-year varsity letterman and captain in both hockey and lacrosse, Jake combined skill, leadership, and relentless drive. On the ice, he set Summit’s single-season points record with 69 (33 goals, 36 assists)—a mark that still stands nearly 20 years later. His 168 career points rank among the top five in program history, highlighted by a legendary six-goal game. On the lacrosse field, he added 39 points as a senior captain while leading Summit to county and state titles. Tough, talented, and team-first—Jake defined Hilltopper excellence.

Ana Mungo – Class of 2007 | Tennis

Grit. Grace. Greatness. Ana Mungo made Summit history as the school’s first-ever State Tennis Champion — and she did it with courage that defined her career. During the 2006 NJSIAA State Singles Tournament, Ana powered through seven grueling rounds, defeating top-ranked opponents and saving four set points in a dramatic championship victory — all while playing through a stress fracture in her foot. That season, she swept the Union County Title and was named New Jersey State Girls’ Tennis Player of the Year. Ana’s determination and poise under pressure made her a true pioneer for Summit tennis.

Gillian McIlroy – Class of 2014 | Cross Country • Winter Track • Spring Track

Grace. Grit. Gold. Gillian McIlroy carried all three with her every time she laced up her spikes. A three-season, 11-time varsity letterwinner and captain, she dominated the distance events — winning conference, county, and sectional titles while leading Summit to multiple team championships. A three-time Union County Runner of the Year, Gillian set the school record in the 3200m (10:43) and became only the second female in Summit history to break five minutes in the 1600. Nicknamed “Golden Girl,” she led by quiet example — proof that true leadership needs no noise, only effort.

Jana Lee – Class of 2003 | Soccer

From her very first match, Jana Lee made an impact — and by graduation, she had rewritten the Summit record book. A four-year varsity standout and team captain, Jana tallied 73 career goals, setting school records for goals, assists, hat tricks, and single-game assists. Her leadership and poise helped guide Summit to a 16-5-1 record her senior year, as she became one of Union County’s most complete offensive players. Jana’s blend of speed, creativity, and competitiveness made her unstoppable — and her records continue to inspire future Hilltoppers to reach for greatness.

Ashley Holmes – Class of 2003 | Track & Field • Basketball • Soccer

A true multi-sport star, Ashley Holmes remains one of the most dominant female athletes in Summit history. She still holds school records in both the shot put (42’3”) and discus (127’3”), achievements that would still qualify for the Meet of Champions today. Over her four years, she collected six State Sectional titles, three State Championships, and countless county and conference crowns — rarely finishing off the podium. Beyond the circle, Ashley shined as a basketball captain and MVP, and even stepped into goal for the soccer team when her school needed her most. Strength, versatility, and leadership — Ashley Holmes defined all three.

Roger Schwanhausser – Class of 1971 | Swimming

Before Summit was known for its swimming success, Roger Schwanhausser was making waves. As co-captain of the 1970–71 team under Coach Bob Greenwald, Roger dominated the backstroke, anchoring relays and setting school records that stood for years. He led Summit to a 12–2 record, captured gold in the 200-yard medley relay at States, and placed second at the elite Eastern Championships. At the 1971 YMCA Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale, he claimed national titles in both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke — proof that Summit talent could shine on any stage. A true pioneer of Hilltopper swimming excellence.

Kevin Phelan – Class of 1978 | Football • Baseball

Kevin Phelan was pure excitement every time he touched the ball — a two-sport standout whose speed, strength, and skill made him one of Summit’s most electrifying athletes. On the gridiron, Kevin led Summit to the 1976 Group 3 State Championship, rushing for 2,400 yards in his career, including an unforgettable 96-yard kickoff return his senior year. On the diamond, he was a powerful left-handed hitter who batted .330 and launched nine home runs, earning All-State honors and MLB tryouts. Dynamic, fearless, and clutch, Kevin Phelan was the definition of Hilltopper pride.
