A first-of-its-kind Institute at the primary and secondary school levels, we believe that fostering ethical thinking and ethical decision-making in the youngest of children prepares them to be the most effective leaders and compassionate citizens of tomorrow.

On October 20, The Ethics Institute’s Empowered Parents Series will feature an interactive panel exploring the many ethical issues surrounding AI. Two of our Upper School REBOOT leaders, Erin K. '27 and Addie B. '28, will lead a conversation about how AI is showing up in everyday life, from the classroom to the workplace. The panel aims to give parents a grounded, multi-generational view of how AI is actually being used, and what that means for kids growing up alongside this technology. Last week, Dr. Rezach, Director of the Ethics Institute at Kent Place School, conducted a professional development workshop at Woodloch Resort for Middle School faculty on the Ethics Institute’s Ethical Decision-Making Method and the use of conversation cards in the Middle School Advisory Program.

Our summer bioethics students visited Overlook Hospital this week and heard from Dr. Serena Chen about reproductive health care. A big thank you to Overlook Hospital and for a great day!

The Ethics Institute's summer Ethics and Economics class visited the Bloomberg headquarters in New York City this week! Students interacted with top industry professionals to learn about data analysis and financial reporting to inform their final investment project.

The REBOOT programs finished the year strong with two events that gave back to the community. On April 27, Clara W. '30, Remi D. '30, Gitanjali K. '30, and Leighton M. '30 gave a presentation to KPS parents on student use of AI. The following week, on May 4, Ava B. '26 and Audrey H. '27 spoke to the 3rd-grade class about online safety and privacy.

On April 14, REBOOT held a summit for Morristown Beard School and Newark Academy. Committee members worked with Connect for Freedom, a nonprofit organization working to end online exploitation and human trafficking through awareness and prevention education.

This year's REBOOT Summit opened with students Jenna C. '26 and Misa G. '26 leading a presentation on issues of online safety and the dangers of being "trafficked" through online connections, and the correlation between large sporting events and human trafficking in light of the World Cup coming to MetLife Stadium this summer. Speakers, including a survivor and officers from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, brought real-world experiences to their presentations on best practices for online safety.
