Just two days into sixth grade, students jumped into their first science lab โ€” working in teams to build a structure capable of suspending a marshmallow using spaghetti, tape and other simple materials. ๐Ÿ”ฌ

More than a building challenge, the activity introduced skills theyโ€™ll rely on throughout the year: communicating, collaborating, testing ideas, adapting when something doesnโ€™t work and reflecting on the process.

Not a bad way to get sixth-grade science off the ground!

A little peek before the big day! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

New Lower School students and their families joined us on campus today for Sneak-A-Peek, an Oak Knoll tradition that gives our newest Royals a chance to meet their teachers, explore their classrooms, and get comfortable with their new surroundings before the first day of school.

Classrooms explored, teachers met โ€” now weโ€™re ready for tomorrow and the 2026-27 school year! ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿ“š

Congratulations to Oak Knoll Field Hockey Head Coach Ali Good โ€™95, who earned her 450th career victory this past week!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

More than 25 years after returning to Oak Knoll as a coach, Good has helped build one of the nationโ€™s premier field hockey programs โ€” but for her, the milestone has always been about the players, coaches, families and alumnae who have built it together.

Student well-being is an important part of creating an environment where young people can learn, grow, and thrive.

Oak Knoll Upper School faculty engaged in a professional learning opportunity focused on Mental Health First Aid, exploring adolescent development, recognizing risk and protective factors, understanding the effects of trauma and information overload, and ways adults can help tip the scales toward resilience.

Led by Astrid Prudent of the Center of Excellence for Childrenโ€™s Behavioral Health at the Georgia Health Policy Center, the session provided faculty with additional knowledge and practical tools to support students and recognize when a young person may need additional help.

Building community starts with listening, collaborating and leading with purpose. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Oak Knollโ€™s Student Diversity Leadership Board gathered Thursday with Director of Community Engagement and Belonging Melissa Miller to reconnect, welcome new members and set priorities for the 2026-27 school year.

Students brainstormed topics for Aprilโ€™s Community Dialogue Night and explored opportunities to collaborate with other student groups, strengthen connections across the Oak Knoll community and build a meaningful partnership with the Lower School.

Weโ€™re excited to see their ideas and leadership take shape throughout the year!
