Instructor Bio - Kagen Aurencz Zethmayr

Classically-trained singer (tenor/baritenor) & original songwriter with an extensive and eclectic range of performance experience from a ca****la Russian chant to opera and everything appealingly dramatic in between. I'm a longtime member of Hinsdale Music Club and have sung with the Tower Chorale of Western Springs and Downers Grove Choral Society, as well

as soloing with the Salt Creek Sinfonietta (now Sinfonietta Bel Canto). Have been intensively engaged in both musical & non-musical performance since childhood, with a particular aptitude for cold readings and dramatic interpretation. Skilled with character voices and accents, as well as being fluent with vocal repertoire (and able to coach diction and expression of text) in French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Latin. On the level of everyday interactions, I can also identify and help you remedy the habitual and/or physiological vocal issues that may be holding you back from your personal and professional goals. If you want to make the best impression possible in life, I'm eager to help holistically, affirmingly, and comprehensively.

After three and a half years in Summit, I'm still new in this area - since I started doing literacy tutoring down in Beverly before I moved here from La Grange, and never really made a proper self-introduction to where I actually live (and doing the full range of things that I actually do).

Okay, putting this out as an honest question - which means (especially for $1,000,000) that a "song" can't be effectively just a refrain/chorus or a modern advertising jingle, unless the advertisers are just running a contest for the sake of their own brand recognition.

A song implies that it has a beginning, a middle, and an end - so at least the full version of a nursery rhyme, please (citations for regional/historical variance as necessary)....

And we'll take "mistakes" as just meaning wrong words or wrong actual notes (within the chosen melody and in the attempted key).

I suppose it makes sense, when promoting oneself as a vocal instructor, to present some evidence of what one can do readily with one's voice..../:-)

So here is what I recorded earlier this week and tossed up on TikTok and Instagram (both accounts: Aureantes), after having sung it earlier that evening in a moving car, as my Uber driver and I were having a great conversation about our favourite (popular) music and singers. He was particularly impressed by my breath control - "That's the classical training," I said.

Original song, a ca****la....and yes, I'm also looking to start a band. Also posting this momentarily to my performance page, Aureantes - it's my constant creative handle to be found by.

Do your New Year's resolutions involve finding/polishing your voice and making a fresh impression in the world?

It may be cold outside and getting colder in this local region, but you don't have to travel outdoors to get solid one-on-one training and attentive feedback. This is an ideal time to contact me for a consultation and put vocal development on your schedule.

My own background is in classical/operatic singing, and in speech training to give and maintain a professional impression in business and performance. So what I address covers foundational breathing and singing technique, vocal habits, diction/pronunciation, demeanour (professional image/stage presence), and music theory to support your style and personal intentions.

I'm currently available online (and in my home for local students only) at reasonable hours Thursday through Sunday, using Google Meet, Zoom, Skype, or Facebook Messenger videochat as technical platforms.
