As I wrapped up a recent etiquette class, one thought stayed with me…

Manners aren’t just table settings and napkins.

They’re how we sit.
How we listen.
How we speak to others.
How we show respect in public spaces.
How we make eye contact.
How we carry ourselves when no one is watching.

One student beautifully reminded the class that manners can be helping an older person cross the street or loading something into their car.

That’s etiquette too.

This summer at Modernly Mannered, we’ll be focusing even more on Manners in Public because confidence, kindness, respect, and presence are the FUNdamentals for life.

Loved attending this beautiful literary luncheon at Aubrey’s Corner in Summit in support of and the incredible work they continue to do for breast care across New Jersey. It was wonderful catching up with old friends and hearing from author Caroline Palmer about her debut novel The Workhorse — a story that brought me right back to my NYC working days. 📚✨

Beautiful conversation, meaningful connections, and an inspiring afternoon all around. 🌸

These two Young Etiquette Explorers came all the way from Brooklyn for their second session — and remembered so many important details from week one! 🩵💙

This week we focused on:
✨ Continental style dining
✨ Introductions & handshakes
✨ Eye contact & posture
✨ Table setting memory games
✨ Everyday manners at home

And yes… basketball breaks were earned after great focus and effort. 🏀✨

It’s always amazing to watch confidence grow from one session to the next.

Mrs. D in the City 🩵💙

What started with train delays and rerouted plans turned into the loveliest day in NYC… a little inspiration at Bergdorf’s and Tiffany’s before heading downtown to teach Manners Marvels to Katie Lee’s adorable 4–6 year olds.

Tiny handshakes. Tiny forks. Big confidence. ✨

These little ones practiced introductions, dining skills, eye contact, and conversation — all while having FUN doing it.

Sometimes the best days don’t begin perfectly… they simply unfold beautifully. 🩵💙
