📚✨ Building the Skills to Read Deeper!
Our Middle School Bulldogs are preparing to dive into their first novel studies of the year, and the learning, discussion, and critical thinking have already begun!
In Ms. Keegan’s 7th Grade ELA classes, students are sharpening their skills with text evidence and annotation, learning how strong readers interact with a text, identify important details, and support their thinking with evidence. Soon, they’ll put those skills to work during their first novel study, A Christmas Carol. 🎄📖
In Mr. Krakower’s 7th Grade Honors ELA and 8th Grade ELA classes, students are preparing to read Matched by tackling a pretty big question: What would a perfect society look like? Students are designing their own “perfect” societies while considering the rules, choices, and values that shape a community—and what might happen when someone else gets to decide what “perfect” means. 🌎💭
And the rigor continues in Mr. Krakower’s English 1 class, where students are preparing for their upcoming novel study of Unbroken—a powerful story that will challenge them to explore themes of perseverance, resilience, courage, and the human spirit.
From learning to cite evidence and annotate with purpose to examining complex ideas about society, choice, resilience, and humanity, our Bulldogs aren’t simply reading books—they’re learning to analyze, question, discuss, and think deeply.
