We believe that some of the best decisions for our school are made when families, staff, and community members work together. One important way parents can have a voice in our school is by serving on our School Improvement Council (SIC).
The School Improvement Council is a group of parents, teachers, community members, and school leaders who work together to support the continued growth and improvement of our school. The SIC provides families with an opportunity to share ideas, offer feedback, and help us think about ways we can better serve all of our students.
Why are parents important to the SIC?
Parents bring a perspective that school staff cannot provide on their own. You know what your child experiences at school, what families need, and what is important to our community. Your voice helps us make sure that our school improvement efforts reflect the needs of both students and families.
As a parent member of the SIC, you may help us:
Review school goals, needs, and areas for improvement.
Discuss student achievement and ways to support student success.
Provide feedback about school programs, family engagement, communication, and school climate.
Share ideas and concerns from a parent and family perspective.
Help strengthen partnerships between our school, families, and community.
Celebrate what is working well while helping identify opportunities for continued growth.
You do not need to be an educator or have special experience to participate. We are looking for parents who care about our students, are willing to share their perspective, and want to help make our school the best it can be.
Serving on the SIC is more than attending a meeting—it is an opportunity to have a meaningful voice in the direction of our school. When families and schools work together, our students benefit.
