One on One Tutoring is a fun, engaging place where kids get hands-on with learning.

Since 2024 I've been testing out project management software for our nonprofit. I found a decent option, but CTS is head and shoulders above the rest. Everything is customized and they're competitively priced. I'm probably going to be able to add more functionality in addition to project management, so I'm excited about the new venture.

If you are a teacher or tutor, they're actually working with me to integrate lesson planning, parent communication and streamlining processes, like storing and sharing files related to each student, for example if I want to send extra practice.

The owner of CTS is Malik Franklin. I met him because he was interested not only in doing our software, but also has a very real desire to help the community.

He's been taking time out of his busy schedule since he contacted me in April, every week. He's learning how to teach, and he's going to be helping me with fundraising efforts. He also offers boxing lessons as a community service. I'm so fortunate to have a reliable person helping get One on One Tutoring some momentum!

I've helped a lot of kids in my classroom. But first, before I ever meet my students, a mom has to recognize her child is struggling. She has to decide to do something about it, and does everything in her power to make it better. Moms brought their children to me. A lot of them have been working for years before we even met, going to bat for their child. If you are a mom reading this, and this describes you, please do something for me.

Show this to your kids. When the kids are with me, I remind them about how much you do for them. I tell them they need to honor that by putting forth their best effort. I can't teach them right now, so this is my message to them.

Great Car show today! Thank you to Berkeley Electric Coop, Shriners Pirates, and The Lowcountry Punishers who allowed me to be their guest and spread the word about what we're trying to do in the Lowcountry.

My best surprise of the day was a student showing up. I started tutoring this young man when he was 9 and now he's a junior and doing very well (although he's changed so much I didn't recognize him, just his mom) 🤣

Please check out this story about Mr Rogers!

I absolutely love this, and when you hear me talk about the standards for my teachers, my zero tolerance, I might sound mean and harsh unlike Fred Rogers, but it comes from the same place. I do not play when it comes to children.

See this picture? This will not always be me. Between Saturday and Sunday, I'm trying to raise my remaining goal of $170 and after that, I'll be conducting things like a regular nonprofit; contacting businesses, submitting grant applications, etc. Please bear with me, contribute or share if you feel so moved.

Hi all! Have you heard the story about Stone Soup? Basically it's about the power of everyone contributing just a tiny bit until you end up with something wonderful. Recently I posted a small short term fundraising goal (now it's down to $170). I've had one parent call to pay all of it. But I know this would really put a strain on the family's finances. The whole reason for founding a nonprofit to teach children at no cost to families is to take that pressure off the families. My idea is, can we send this request to our friends and get $1 here, $5 there? I would feel so much better about that than this one family bearing the burden. They will, because they love what we're doing. But I think they're not the only ones. Here's our website, hope you will go check it out. Thanks for reading!

Prayers, good wishes, positive thoughts needed.

It's been a long road, but the nonprofit I've felt I must see to fruition is finally gaining traction and things are happening.

Here is our presentation of the nonprofit. We are a sponsored project under Palmetto Project, Inc.

Monday I will be going to a local church to ask if we can use their Sunday school rooms during the week for tutoring. We haven't officially announced the launch of the nonprofit yet, because we're still getting our ducks in a row. This post is to ask for your prayers, good thoughts, best wishes for us to find the space we need.
