Happy Mother’s Day to my Carroll Music Studio Mamas & Grandmas!!! I see you getting your kiddos to lessons, making sure they practice, & encouraging them when things get hard & wiping their tears when things don’t go as planned!! 🫶🏻

In the midst of nerves, tears, frustrations, distractions- these kiddos never cease to amaze me! So, so proud!!

It’s that time of year again… I can’t wait to watch my kiddos shine at their recital tonight!

So proud of Carroll Music Studio student, Elliana (3rd from the right), for being recognized as a DD2 volunteer of the year finalist!!!

I tell my students all the time, “I’m teaching you out of a job”, meaning- I want them to be so skilled and literate when it comes to looking at a piece of music and playing it, that they can do it without my help. Sometimes, that forced independence is frustrating for them, but most of the time it is rewarding.

We don’t just learn songs for a performance (like this cartoon suggests), we learn how to interpret a new language and develop a skill. ♥️

It probably makes some people laugh and others cry 😂😭

Jokes exist for a reason, and unfortunately, this is the sad truth for many adults who took piano lessons as children.

I often see teachers seeking ideas for content they can post on their studio pages. This could be a powerful share if you include a write-up telling families, “This won't happen to you when you study with me!” 🎹

We don't need another generation of adults telling people they used to play the piano. I just wrote and shared my post. Let me know if you decide to do one! I'd love to read it 🤩
