Labor Day is a National Holiday where we celebrate the working spirit of Americans and the American Dream. In Homeschooling there are no absences or "Holidays" that count toward the 180 days for the homeschool year. However, you do not have to do a worksheet, or make your kitten do it. Talk about the meaning of Labor Day, watch a video, learn about the food you eat, how the grill or oven works, what your Parents or Grandparents did for work, the sacrifices of those who helped make the America we know and love! That makes it a learning day today.

**Monarchs and More:
An 8-Week Science Exploration in the Garden**

This engaging series will take students on a scientifically backed, education-filled journey in the garden. Through NGSS standards-aligned lessons, students will engage in the scientific process and build science skills through hands-on investigations into the monarch life cycle and monarch migration.

** The Charleston Museum Visit: Colonial Charleston**

Join us for a very special visit from America’s oldest museum! Led by a professional museum educator, we’ll dig into history together.

Students will discover life in Colonial Charleston by playing a game where they take on the role of a real person from Charleston’s colonial past. They’ll learn about colonial clothing and have the opportunity to play with colonial toys and games.

**Math in the Garden with Ms. Jessica**

Led by Ms. Jessica, who brings more than 15 years of professional classroom experience, we’ll dive into the garden with a mathematical lens.

This engaging class takes children on an educational journey through the garden using standards-based activities designed to strengthen math skills for learners in grades 2–5.

This is a drop-in series, with each class focusing on a new math topic.

**Nature’s Canvas:
4-Class Science & Art Connections with Ms. Cat**

This four-session workshop will be led by professional teaching artist Cat Brantley of Sister Moon Studio.

In each class, students will create a vibrant mixed-media artwork inspired by the day’s science concept, including animals, plants, life cycles, and other wonders of the natural world.

Using materials such as watercolor paints, pastels, fabric, and more, students will connect science concepts with traditional principles of art while building layered, textured works of art. Ms. Cat will introduce specific art elements, new mediums, and art techniques based on each project.

The goal is for students to create a lasting connection to science and art through hands-on, creative projects while building creative problem-solving skills.

Best suited for children ages 6–10.

Memorial Day is a day to remember those who fought in wars, the streets, the fires, the chaos and did not return home to their families. To protect the freedoms that our forefathers left other countries for, wrote books, documents, amendments and declared those wars over. So that we can use those same rights to teach our children about the Man on the Middle Cross. To accept His Glory and Grace, to know His Name and be able to say we love Jesus out loud. God the Father, protect each and every one of our active service members and first responders, guide the hands of every true peacemaker, and those who follow your will. Help us to stand firm in your word and follow your call where you lead us. Help us grow closer to you in all we do, and may that what we give you, be a token of appreciation to those who gave their lives for our freedoms.

We pray that all of our families had a wonderful day celebrating the Women in their lives over the Mother's Day weekend! Following the Lord's word and training our children is hard work. We are Thankful and blessed every day to walk alongside Him and to teach those He has placed in our care. Whether we have been handed these children through birth, adoption, fostering, church, the classroom, co-op, sheer love, and will, they are ours through the Grace of God. Thank you all for walking with Our Father and us!

Homeschooling continues to grow each year in the state of South Carolina, and many people are beginning to ask why. Most homeschooling families already know the answer.

Simply put: your children deserve the best education possible.

While there are many incredible and dedicated public school teachers, the system itself is struggling. Too often, students are not measured by their individual strengths or guided toward their unique dreams and futures. Instead, they are taught to pass tests and achieve scores that drive funding, updates, and political priorities.

Your child deserves more.

When you homeschool, your child has the freedom to learn through play, exploration, and a home-based, thoughtfully designed curriculum. Each day can be shaped around their interests, strengths, and future goals. You are not just teaching subjects—you are helping your child grow into a leader, a thinker, and a lifelong learner.

Wanting to share joy and laughter today. It's not a bad strategy! Grading was always a group project. My children would read their answers and I would let them know if it was right or wrong according to the book. They could then investigate and see if they could come up with the right answer/find their error or if they could not, then they or we could look at the right answer and figure out why that was the answer. Ocassionally books are wrong or we read a question differently than it was intended so that our answer might be right in our minds but wrong by what the book intended. I never saw why I should do the grading alone if it could help teach the child. I confess, I did not always know the answers as they got older and we spent more time learning together but that was the beauty of homeschooling. Everyone learns and it's not all just academics.

Or you could prove the book wrong. 🤔🧐😲

What are the signs of Spring in your family? One of ours was that the toads came out and bluebirds built a nest in one of the birdhouse my children built years ago. There were also the weeks and weekends with too many scheduled outdoor activities because they were scheduled during the winter when we were looking forward to Spring acitivities.

As we honor our Savior's sacrifice and Promise kept, we will be taking the Easter Weekend off to observe and preserve this time with our families. We encourage all families to learn, spend time with Jesus, and return to the style of educating your family through faith, truth, and understanding: the best education ever was designed by God, through parents and HIM!
