📢 Gateway Registration is now open!

Gateway is a challenging 15-day program for artistically talented students in grades 3 through 5. It is held on five Saturdays throughout the school year and two weeks in June. Students are served in the areas of creative writing, dance, theatre arts, visual art, vocal music, and instrumental music. All students grades 3-5 currently residing in the DD2 attendance zone are eligible for this program!

Audition & Application Timeline:
o Application Registration: Applications open now! Deadline for application is August 28!
o In District Students will now register within the PowerSchool parent portal
o Out of district students will register by following the link in the comments
o Students will receive their audition time electronically by September 4
o Audition Date: Saturday, September 19, 2026
o Auditions will be held at Rollings Middle School of the Arts
1635 Beech Hill Rd, Summerville, SC 29485
(Proof of residency is required at the time of audition for non DD2 students)
o Results Notification: Sent via email week of September 21

According to the National Weather Service, our area is expected to experience very warm temperatures, with daytime highs reaching the mid to upper 90s, beginning later this week and continuing next week.

The health and safety of our students and staff remain our top priorities. We are closely monitoring conditions and taking precautions to help keep students and staff safe, healthy, and comfortable.

This afternoon, outdoor activities were brought indoors or canceled due to high temperatures.

Tomorrow, Friday, August 14, school administrators will closely monitor temperatures and weather conditions throughout the day and will modify outdoor activities as needed to ensure appropriate precautions are taken. Morning temperatures are expected to be more manageable than afternoon temperatures; therefore, schools may prioritize outdoor activities during the morning hours when conditions are more favorable.

Depending on conditions, modifications may include:
- Moving planned outdoor activities indoors
- Shortening or adjusting outdoor activities
- Remaining indoors for the duration of an activity when necessary

The Football Jamboree scheduled for tomorrow evening, Friday, August 14, has been canceled due to extreme heat.
