Public Montessori School Coming to Summerville, SC

I took over this page with the intention to keep
The process going. I would love to see a Montessori school to open in the area but to be honest have no idea what needs to be done. Is anyone in this group apart of the original board members and would be willing to start this process. I am willing to help.

OK everyone I am wanting to get everyone together that is interested and do a meeting was thinking of doing it in Monarch Park in Summers corner in the next few weeks wanted to see S an evening would work maybe about 730 post on here if you are interested.

Hello all! I am disappointed to let you all know that we do not have enough members to form a board and continue with the application process. If anyone is interested in leading this initiative, please let me know. At this point, I am unable to be the chair of the board due to time constraints. But if you or someone you know is very dedicated and has the time, please let me know. I'll be more than happy to share what I've learned and help you get started! If I don't hear from anyone, I'll close this page at the end of this week. A minimum of 7 members is required, 9 is better. I can tell you that this is a significant investment of time and requires people who can volunteer their time, be dedicated to the goal, and follow through on commitments. I think this is something that Summerville could greatly benefit from - it just needs the right people committed to making it happen.

Hello everyone! Unfortunately, we will not be able to get our application in on time, so the school opening will be delayed for at least a year - with a potential opening in 2023. Please check back for updates!

This is data from a study at the Riley Institute at Furman. They found that in public Montessori schools in SC, students met or exceeded their goals more than their peers in traditional public school settings. This is incredible because Montessori is focused on the whole child, not just academics! The grey areas show students that met or exceeded their proficiency in Math and ELA, where the red and pink sections show students that are approaching or did not meet their goal.
