We are so proud to congratulate Becky Osby on receiving the Hometown Hero Award from Modern Woodmen!

Becky is a longtime, dedicated volunteer who works tirelessly sorting, organizing, and stocking our dry goods so they are ready for the families who walk through our doors. Her work often happens behind the scenes, but the difference she makes is felt throughout our entire community.

And the best part? You can make a difference, too.

Being a hometown hero doesn’t always mean doing something big. Sometimes it simply means showing up, giving a little of your time, and using your hands and heart to serve your neighbors.

Becky is a wonderful example of just how much of an impact one committed volunteer can make. ❤️

Recently, one of our guests came into CRC Chattooga hoping to find something many of us may take for granted—a pair of shoes that actually fit her.

When she found a pair in our Clothes Closet, she was overjoyed. She told our volunteers she never wanted to take them off—even to sleep in them. Her excitement brought tears to the eyes of our volunteers and reminded us just how much a simple donation can mean to someone.

Right now, we especially need MEN’S CLOTHING donations! 👖👕👟

Our Clothes Closet is more like a free thrift store for the families we serve. Clothing, shoes, household goods, personal care items, and other donated non-food necessities are available through our point system, but everything is completely free to our families.

So, gentlemen—maybe it’s time for a closet clean-out! 😉 If you have gently used shirts, jeans, pants, jackets, shoes, or other men’s clothing you no longer wear, consider donating them to CRC Chattooga.

That shirt hanging in the back of your closet may not mean much to you anymore.
But to someone who needs it, it could mean everything. ❤️

Help us restock our men’s section and continue giving our neighbors the opportunity to find what they need with dignity.

The Community Resource Center is thrilled to host CERT training! This training is FREE to ANYONE who wants to be equipped to help YOUR community when an emergency occurs.

A tornado happens in your neighborhood like the ones that hit Ringgold several year ago and emergency vehicles can't get to your street right away - YOU will know what to do to start accessing and helping. Saving precious time.

Training does NOT mean any kind of commitment to the team. This just empowers many in our community to stand up and lead in a time of crisis.

Chattooga County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program supported by FEMA that educates and trains everyday citizens in basic disaster preparedness and emergency response skills.

Chattooga County CERT members receive training in areas such as:

Disaster preparedness and emergency readiness
Fire safety
Light search and rescue
Basic medical response and triage
Teamwork and emergency response operations

Once trained, Chattooga County CERT members can assist Public Safety responders, neighborhoods, community events, and our community in many different ways.

CERT volunteers can provide valuable support during emergencies and disasters, helping communities prepare, respond, and recover while professional first responders are focused on the most critical needs.

Chattooga County will be offering a CERT training class for individuals interested in becoming a trained member of our team.

Whether you want to learn valuable emergency skills, help your neighbors, support our first responders, or become more prepared to assist during an emergency, CERT is a great way to get involved and make a difference in Chattooga County.

🏠 Protecting what’s under this roof matters.

In just the first 2 days we were open this month, the Community Resource Center of Chattooga served 201 families.

That’s over 2,000 people helped with food under this roof.

Every bag of groceries, every family served, and every moment of hope shared here reminds us why this place matters so much.

This roof protects more than a building.
It protects food for families, dignity for neighbors, and hope for our community.

💙 Why CRC Matters

One day, an elderly woman came to CRC for food and shared that she tries not to come unless she truly needs it. But by the end of the month, she is hungry—so she comes.

When I looked at her paperwork, I saw that she was raising a grandchild. My heart immediately went there: she is probably making sure that child eats, even when it means she goes without.

Later, someone asked, “What would happen to Chattooga County if CRC was no longer here?”

That is a heartbreaking question. But one answer is clear:

That woman would still be hungry.

That is not okay.

CRC exists so that people in our community do not have to face hunger alone. Help us protect this place of hope for years to come.

🚗 Volunteer Delivery Team Needed!

CRC Chattooga is looking for two people who can go together one day each week to deliver food boxes to local families in need.

You would typically deliver just 2–4 boxes, but those few deliveries can make a tremendous difference for families who cannot come to the pantry themselves.

🌅 The story of a sunrise—the story of hope—continues.

At Dancing with Our Stars, we had the privilege of sharing a story of a life being transformed and new possibilities beginning to appear.

Since then, even more opportunities have continued to emerge—from sharing lunch with a judge to meeting a United States congressman. Each new connection is another reminder that hope can open doors we never expected.

We were honored to welcome Congressman Clay Fuller, along with his staff and family, as they volunteered with us this week. Thank you for taking the time to serve, connect, and see the work happening at the Community Resource Center of Chattooga.

Stories like this are what we are working to protect beneath our roof. Help us protect the place where immediate help becomes hope—and hope becomes possibility.
