Some mentors teach robotics. The best mentors teach students how to believe in themselves.
For FRC Team 3489, that mentor is Matt Marvin.
Mr. Marvin is always there for us. Whether we’re troubleshooting code, redesigning a mechanism, or just feeling stuck, he gives his time, energy, and patience without hesitation. But what truly makes him special isn’t just what he teaches about robotics—it’s how deeply he cares about his students.
He pushes us to think harder, try again, and never give up. He shares his knowledge freely and reminds us that mistakes are just part of learning. When we’re willing to listen, the lessons he gives go far beyond the robot. They shape how we solve problems, work together, and grow as people.
Mr. Marvin doesn’t just build robots—he builds confidence, curiosity, and future leaders.
Because of him, we are better students, better teammates, and better people.
FRC Team 3489 and 10367 are proud and grateful to nominate Matt Marvin for the Woodie Flowers Award.

After a weekend full of challenges, both teams in our program pushed through and made it to the playoffs! Our rookies even stepped up as an alliance captain.
We’re also proud to bring home some amazing awards:
⚡ FRC 10367 Storm Surge — Sustainability Award
⚡ FRC 3489 Category 5 — Impact Award
A more detailed recap is coming soon, but for now we’re already back in the shop on Monday preparing for our next competition in Hartsville during Week 4!
Thank you to our incredible mentors, parents, and donors who continue to support our teams and help us grow and learn through FRC.

We’re officially counting down to competition, and we need YOUR support to make it there strong!
Our team is fundraising to cover travel, registration, and competition-ready supplies — and every dollar gets us closer to our goal! Right now we’re at 2% of our $5,000 goal, and with your help we can go further.

This Holiday season we are seeking support for from all my friends and family.
Each student is participating in the team’s “20 for $20” campaign—our goal is to find 20 people per student willing to give $20 to support hands-on STEM learning, competitions, and outreach programs that help students grow into confident problem-solvers for our future.
If you’re able, please consider donating here:

Or here to help my middle schoolers!

And even if you can’t donate, sharing this post makes a huge difference!
We appreciate you more than you know. ✨♥️✨
