Bringing History to Life at SLS! 🇺🇸

Today, our SLS 7th Grade Civics students took a step back in time with a special visit from Thomas Jefferson and Abigail Adams through the Founding Voices program! 📜✨

Students experienced an engaging, interactive journey through America’s founding era, learning what life was like for the colonists as they navigated the Stamp Act, the Intolerable Acts, and the events leading up to the Declaration of Independence. They even heard a firsthand account from Thomas Jefferson himself about the process of drafting one of our nation’s most important documents!

The Founding Voices program, an initiative of the Institute for Governance and Civics at Florida State University, brings history to life through live historical interpreters, helping students strengthen their civic literacy, deepen their understanding of America’s founding principles, and make meaningful connections to what they’re learning in the classroom!

💙🦈 Happy National Instructional Coaches Day!

Today we celebrate our incredible Instructional Coach, Mrs. Osborn and the MANY hats she wears each and every day! 📚✨

From supporting teachers and digging into data, to planning instruction, coordinating assessments, leading professional learning, problem-solving, and finding new ways to make learning meaningful—her impact reaches every corner of our campus.

She also plays an important role in connecting school and home, working and collaborating with families to provide resources, strategies, and support that help students grow both at home and at school.

Beyond all the different roles she takes on, it’s her passion for learning, literacy, our students, staff, and families that truly shines. ❤️ Whether she’s supporting teachers, celebrating student growth, supporting a family, creating resources, or jumping in wherever she is needed, she is always working toward the same goal—helping our Sharks grow, learn, and succeed!

So today, we celebrate all that she does, all the hats she wears, and most importantly, the heart she brings to each one.

Happy National Instructional Coaches Day! Thank you for bringing literacy and learning to life across our campus and helping build a stronger connection between our classrooms, our families, and our community! 🦈📖✨
