Books for Bethany: Help Us Build a Culture of Reading

At Bethany Community School, we believe reading changes lives. That's why we're launching Books for Bethany, a community-wide initiative to help build a lifelong love of reading in our students.

Beginning in January 2027, Bethany will proudly participate in State Superintendent Mo Green's 10 Million Books Challenge, joining schools across North Carolina in the goal of students reading 10 million books each year. We couldn't be more excited because we believe that somewhere along the way, many students have lost the joy of reading, and we are committed to bringing it back.

Research consistently shows that students who read independently strengthen their vocabulary, improve reading comprehension, become stronger writers, and perform better across all academic subjects. Our goal is to place more than 500 books into the hands of Bethany middle school students and create inviting reading spaces that encourage them to slow down, unplug, and discover the joy of reading.

Bring gently used middle grades or young adult books to donate, or purchase a new book from Ink & Ivy Bookstore, which will be set up at the event. For every book donated or purchased, students will receive a ticket for a FREE Ice Cream!

Middle School Students will also be able to pick up their official class schedules during the event. Please note that schedules will not be finalized prior to August 4.

Every donated book is an investment in a child's future!
