Scenes from Friday: picking basil, making pesto from fresh ingredients harvested, enjoying the dome. We love how our environment is the physical manifestation of our mission. Grateful for and our families. Enjoy the weekend!

AND... was leading our young people in the Open Learning On The Farm program. Students checked in on seedlings planted in September, explored the farm, then learned about, composed, and steeped their own herbal teas!
How fortunate we are to have Chandra working with our children!!

Many hands (and backs) make light work. The community came out strong last night to shift the 500-lbs tarp into place. We are grateful for such an outstanding group. We discussed afterward: "Find good people and you'll find a good cause...find a good cause and you'll find good people."

Grateful for another morning with our thoughts and prayers going to all impacted by the hurricane in Florida. We are studying hurricanes this week: our students wanting to be educated and informed.

Developing a culture of reading is more than scheduling DEAR time or SSR for 20 minutes in class. We read to imagine, to learn, to feel, to expand our vocabulary, and to travel. After reading or listening to a good story, we experience life more vibrantly.

A few sets of hands volunteering for a few hours each night. Very thankful.

"Never forget that you are one of a kind. Never forget that if there weren't any need for you in all your uniqueness to be on this earth, you wouldn't be here in the first place. And never forget, no matter how overwhelming life's challenges and problems seem to be, that one person can make a difference in the world. In fact, it is always because of one person that all the changes that matter in the world come about. So be that one person. "
-Buckminster Fuller (inventor of the geodesic dome)
