We had a whole pride of Panthers receive Positive Office Referrals this morning! 🐾💙❤️

These students were recognized for going above and beyond! Students were seen cleaning up around campus without being asked, making sure others felt included, lending a helping hand, and simply being a positive light to those around them.

We are so proud of these Panthers for showing kindness, leadership, and what it truly means to make Summerdale School a better place. Congratulations! 🎉🐾

Prosecutors, defense attorneys, a judge and closing arguments oh my!

Was the narrator of Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart guilty of premeditated murder or legally insane? You be judge! These 8th graders came into the “courtroom”prepared for their closing arguments.

Today our 2nd graders put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test! 🧩💛

Students worked in groups to complete a 24-piece puzzle—but there was a twist! Each puzzle had one missing piece, and that piece had been mixed into another group’s puzzle. With six groups working at the same time, students had to communicate, collaborate, and help one another figure out where the missing pieces belonged.

This activity was a great reminder that we are stronger when we work together! Students practiced patience, communication, cooperation, and problem-solving while building our classroom community. 🤝🧩✨

Our Summerdale mathematicians are ready to take on math this year with the power of productive struggle and perseverance! 🧩➗

Our Math Coach, Mrs. Barker, has been visiting K–5 classrooms to help students understand the importance of perseverance when math gets challenging. Students are learning that productive struggle isn’t something to avoid, but an opportunity to think deeply, learn something new, build confidence, and develop strategies for success.

Students also learned how to use the Kagan structure Rally Coach to collaborate, encourage one another, and support their partners as they worked through a challenging Tangram Challenge.

We are so proud of our Summerdale mathematicians for embracing the challenge, persevering through the struggle, and celebrating their success! There is so much learning that happens when we don’t give up! ❤️💙🤍
