Mrs.Trisler’s 7th grade students in the CITGO Innovation Academy put their math skills into action through a hands-on STEM project! Using real grocery store packaging, students measured dimensions, analyzed product nets, and applied scale factors to create miniature versions of their original boxes.
As students reduced each measurement proportionally, they gained a deeper understanding of how scale factors create similar figures while maintaining shape and design. They also explored how changes in dimensions affect size and appearance, making a real-world connection to the math concepts we are currently learning in class.
This project challenged students to think like engineers and designers while strengthening their problem-solving, measurement, and mathematical reasoning skills. We are proud of the creativity, precision, and teamwork they demonstrated as they built their own miniature grocery store products! 🛒📏📦

From Colonial America to Mars! 🚀✨
Mrs. Marcantel‘s 6th-grade social studies classes visited the library today to step into virtual worlds. Students explored the historic settlements of Colonial America before blasting off to explore the terrain of Mars! 🧑‍🚀🎒
To tie it all together, students used what they learned about early American colonies and modern SpaceX innovations to plan exactly what it would take to colonize the Red Planet. The future of exploration starts right here!

Mrs. Durant’s 8th grade students brought literature to life with an awesome STEM challenge!

While reading Freak the Mighty, students learned about Kevin, one of the main characters who lives with physical disabilities. Their challenge was to design a prototype that could improve an aspect of Kevin’s daily life.

The creativity was impressive! Students developed ideas including exoskeletons, flying jet packs, improved wheelchairs, height-enhancing shoes, mechanical body suits, extendable leg braces, and more.

This project was a great way to combine ELA, STEM, engineering, creativity, and problem-solving while encouraging students to think about how technology and design can help meet real-world needs.

Great job, Raiders!

Every Raider. Every Day. Raiders Lead the Way!
