🇺🇸 Ms. Adams’s Class Took the Citizenship Test! 🇺🇸

We’ve been learning all about citizenship—what it means to be a good citizen, the rights and responsibilities of citizens, and the process of becoming a U.S. citizen!

Today, students got to put themselves to the test by taking their own Citizenship Test!

❤️🤍💙 Students decked out in their American accessories passed their test and officially earned their classroom “citizenship!”

🖤🤍 Students pictured in black and white didn’t quite pass this time—but now they know just how challenging becoming a U.S. citizen can be!

Such a fun way to experience a little piece of the naturalization process firsthand! 🇺🇸

One more post for former students, now educators!

Claire (Andrus) Bryant was in the first class of EdRising at SHS in 2019 and continued through 2021. She attended McNeese State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education grades 1-5.
Claire teaches first grade at Frasch Elementary.
“The thing I love the most about education is watching students grow into strong, fluent readers. My hopes as an educator are to have a long and beautiful career helping students grow.”
Claire’s favorite part of EdRising was “watching Mrs. McFarlain's love of teaching pour into each of us, making us excited to start our own journey into education!”

🚨‼️ ATTENTION PARENTS & STUDENTS ‼️🚨

Tomorrow, students will start receiving their laptops. Parents, double-check with your student(s) that they have turned-in two things:

🩶 Gray paper (CPSB Code of Conduct)
🍋 Lemon yellow laptop paper

All of the paperwork shown in the picture went home last week. We only need the gray paper and the lemon laptop paper (top paper).

It will take us a couple days to hand-out over 1400 laptops. Please check JCampus for any outstanding technology fees as students will not be able to check out a laptop if they owe a fee.

We are so proud of Zayn McCaughey! Zayn was in our first EdRising class at SHS on 2019-2020. He, in fact, completely changed his schedule from all day at McNeese to all day at Sulphur High so he could participate.
Zayn was also our first graduate to enter the field of Education!
Zayn attended McNeese and student taught at Sulphur High. He is now teaching 8th grade ELA at Vinton Middle. Zayn hopes to create a place of security for his students and to always maintain a healthy work/life balance.
Zayn’s favorite part of EdRising was doing the field experience and seeing teaching done in real time!
