When dairy comes to the classroom, learning gets hands-on, creative, and delicious! 🥛🧀

The Southwest/Southland Dairy Farmers Culinary Grant helps schools and communities bring dairy to life by providing funding for dairy products used in their school or events. We’re proud to support opportunities that bring students together, encourage creativity and put dairy to work in the classroom.

✨Meet Our New Team Member! ✨

Please join us in welcoming Chad Saunders as one of the Mobile Dairy Classroom Instructors in the state of Texas for Southwest Dairy Farmers!

Chad is originally from Devine, Texas, where he grew up raising registered Brahman cattle and went on to earn his degree from Texas A&M University in 1997. He spent 29 years as an agriculture science teacher before joining Southwest Dairy Farmers. From working as a veterinary technician to being a wrangler on a ranch in Colorado and even riding bulls in high school, Chad brings his knowledge and interesting journey in agriculture to the team.

In his new role, he is excited to continue sharing his passion for education in a new way and share his experience with students, families, and communities through the Mobile Dairy Classroom.

When he's not working, Chad enjoys spending time outdoors, attending sporting events, or spending time with family and friends.

We're proud to have Chad on the Southwest Dairy Farmers team and can't wait to see his passion for educating others about agriculture continue through the Mobile Dairy Classroom.

Welcome to the team, Chad! 🐄🥛

🐄✨COW HIGHLIGHT: SNAZZY!✨🐄

Meet Snazzy, one of the stars of our Mobile Dairy Classroom! At 6 years old, Snazzy has plenty of personality. She’s always ready to entertain!

Snazzy LOVES TO EAT( and we mean REALLY loves to eat!). She enjoys munching on hay during our programs, loves her treats, and when she gets impatient for mealtime, she’ll rub her feed pan to let you know it’s time to eat!
Snazzy also likes to travel. She loads into our trailers with excitement and is always ready for her next adventure. When she’s not busy eating or traveling, you might catch her running and jumping, she definitely knows how to keep us entertained! ❤️🐮

Fun Fact: Snazzy’s grandma was also a Mobile Dairy Classroom cow for Southwest Dairy Farmers!

Where have you seen Snazzy? 👀
Have you met her at one of our Mobile Dairy Classroom programs? Let us know where in the comments.

🥛 HOW MUCH MILK? 🧀🧈🍦

Ever wonder how much milk it takes to make some of your favorite dairy products? It takes approximately 10 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of cheese, 21 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of butter, and 3 gallons of milk to make 1 gallon of ice cream.

That’s a whole lot of milk making a whole lot of deliciousness. 🥛❤️
What dairy product should we break down next? Tell us in the comments! 👇

NO WAY, IT’S DAIRY! 🥛 YES WHEY!
Did you know whey comes from milk! 👀

When milk is used to make cheese, whey is the liquid left behind. That whey can be processed and used in all kinds of foods — including protein powders, bars, and put into protein shakes.
So, the next time you see “whey” on a label, remember… it started with milk! 🐄🥛

What's your favorite way to enjoy whey?
