Petting Zoo

Black River FFA enjoyed serving our community today by hosting a petting zoo at Buddy Fest! A special thank-you to Rylee and Caleb for bringing their own animals, Mrs. Dria for assisting, and all our members who attended and helped. Thank you to Mr. Skrant for allowing us to be part of your event! We appreciate your time and dedication to sharing agriculture with our community

Several of our Black River High School juniors and seniors had the opportunity to participate in a National Manufacturing Day field trip to Simonson Construction and Barbasol in Ashland.

Our students toured both facilities, learned about the work being done, and had the opportunity to talk with employees about what it takes to be prepared for the workforce, what the jobs look like, and the career opportunities and benefits available in these industries.

These experiences give our students a firsthand look at local career opportunities and help connect what they are learning in school to potential careers after graduation.

A special thank you to Grow Ashland and Ashland Area Economic Development for organizing this event and providing our students with this valuable opportunity to explore local careers and businesses. We also appreciate Simonson Construction and Barbasol for opening their doors and sharing their workplaces and career opportunities with our students.

We have been fortunate enough to purchase new classroom chairs, and now have the opportunity to get rid of well used chairs that were previously donated to us. These will be stacked behind the high school through tomorrow afternoon for any community member who would like to pick a few up.

It’s the little things that can be treasured…
High school memories can be filled with fun, laughter and a sense of belonging and
sometimes, it’s just something little that leaves the most lasting impact.

Black River High School wants to continue to make lasting memories for our students
and staff and would love some help from our amazing community. The goal is to build a
year-round treasure chest filled with incentives and rewards that can be used to create
special moments to celebrate Pirate Pride initiatives, student experiences, schoolwide
programs, and special projects.

Would you be willing to help us fill the BRHS Treasure Chest?
