Dear RCA past and previous kinders,

Thanks for the memories. I truly enjoyed teaching you. We had a lot of fun, from yes days, crafts, OG confetti parties, hands on learning, and letting me be one of the crazy kinders with you. YOU amaze me. I will never forget any of my kinders or the memories we made in the classroom. Some days were organized choas, but we made each day count. To ALL my kiddos, always rember to try your best, never give up, YOU matter, and you will move mountains.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!☘️ We had some special guest in our class today! Can you spot them? They brought stickers around to students who weren’t wearing green, and 8th grade came in a taught a lesson! The kinders really enjoyed it! We focused on the book How to Catch a Leprechaun! Students got to build their own yummy trap! Huge thank you to Mr. Cassaro for helping students participate and helping the 8th grade teaching the students to make hats! We had a fun day!

What a fun week!!Susan Fowler visited RCA on Thursday and everyone got to enjoy her hands on story telling! Then our very own Miss Laura baked the entire school an amazing cake! Thank you again! We finished the week with making Oobleck. Students learned about solids and liquids and how things formed. We also talked about making a list, following instructions, and discussing what we made. We are very grateful that the entire school was able to participate in such a fun week! We even had themed lunches(thank you Miss Laura and Miss Verna)! Happy Read Across America week! 📚📖📝

We want to say a huge thank you to the amazing people who organized, took time, got creative, and helped the kids have fun today. We have some pretty amazing families that help us bring in the neatest of things and ideas! The kids absolutely LOVED Green Eggs and Ham! They participated by learning a new dance and song, listened and helped read the book, and got to take turns with sequencing the events that took place. 💚🍳🥚

Show us How Bright You Are! RCA staff and students will have a Neon Day on Monday, March 6th. Wear your neon colors and brightest smiles to support our 2nd and 3rd graders taking the iRead3!!! We are hoping for a 100% pass rate once again!

Today our book spotlight was One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish! Whew, did this book hit so many standards! When reading the book we reviewed how to use our number words ( and spell them), we discussed antonyms and synonyms, and we continued to work on our rhyming! Our activities included following instructions on how to draw our fish while discribing the character, discussing/writing about our favorite part, graphing our gold fish, and making an addition problem and explaining it to the class! Students also enjoyed around the room rhyme writing today and our mystery number identification chart! 🐟

Today we focused on the book “Green Eggs and Ham”. Students talked about the main idea of the story, worked with rhyming, discussed if they liked green eggs, did a survey with their classmates, and most importantly, made some green egg and hams out of paper! Today was also pj day!! It’s Mrs. S’s favorite week, so stay tuned what we do next!

Last week we focused on the story “How to Catch a Loveosaurus”. With this book, we have focused on many standards, a life lesson (showing kindness), and today students focused on engineering. Students were grouped and had two minutes to chose a “runner”, a “speaker”, and a “captain”. They worked together as a team to build their trap for their Loveosaurus. After they were done that had to explain their trap, where it took place, and things they would use to lure the Loveosaurus to the entire class. This was a great hands on activity!
