📣 Couple of quick announcements! 📣

Picture days are coming up and announcements have gone out regarding dates & times- please make sure to check with your teacher to ensure the correct date.

Our first fundraiser of the year, Boon Supply, will be wrapping up on Friday. Since 2020, we have been living off of our reserves as we felt it best to not hold any fundraisers but with things starting to be back to normal, we need your help with fundraising. Without funds, we cannot do things like Trunk or Treat, movie night, dances, and field trips! You do not have to purchase to participate- even sharing our fundraiser via social media is a huge help!

A few people have asked about teacher appreciation week and we wanted to give you all an update ☺️ PTO planned lunches/treats for the staff each day but we didn’t want to do any themed days for our families and create any un-needed stress or anxiety for a week that is about saying thank you to our teachers and staff ♥️

If you would like to do something kind for your teacher, please feel free- a note, a flower, a sweet treat…they appreciate all of it. It has been a tricky couple of years for not only our teachers but our admin and support staff.

Something to keep in mind is that it’s important to show your appreciation year round…even just an email or dojo message saying ”thank you, I appreciate you”. Our teachers, meal services, custodians, shadows/aids, and admin all play a role in how our school functions…let’s show them that we appreciate ALL of them!

Calling all Dan O Root families…WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Please join us in supporting our students for our Spring 2022 Fun Run on March 15th! We will be working with Boosterthon for this event and as part of the event, the students will receive Dan O Root t-shirts with sponsors on the back.

Here’s where you come in…do you have a small business? Know of a small business that would love some easy advertising? Point them in our direction! For a small fee, the business’ logo will be printed on the shirts and these shirts go home to 713 families! 🙌

Dan O Root PTO is a registered 501c3 non-profit; with that being said, donations are considered a tax write off and we can provide a receipt.

We need your help at the fireworks booth located at the corner of Highway 12 & Marina Blvd (across from AM/PM). We were not able to do any of our fundraisers this year so the stand is vital to us at this point! I promise that the time goes by quickly and it is a great way to give back...filling a 2 hour shift makes a huge difference! Remember: the top 3 people who have the most volunteer hours at the end of the stand will receive some amazing prizes: 1st place is a trip to Reno or Tahoe, 2nd is a $200 gift card, and 3rd is a $100 gift card.

Make sure to let all of your friends and family know about our stand- the 4th is on weekend AND as far as we know, the city will not be putting on a show this year...here is your chance to snag some great fireworks while supporting our school!

A few people have asked about the age of volunteers: volunteers need to be 18+ to be in the booth but that is it...they do not have to have a child at the school...please reach out to aunts, uncles, family friends, anyone to see if they are able to volunteer for any length of time...everyone is eligible for the prize! Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions!

I have been trying to wrap my head around all of the changes that have taken place the last 5 months and while I know many people are concerned and anxious about the new schedule that was put forth for our kids, please know that ultimately this was not a decision that was made by our school administrators or our teachers...many of them are also experiencing having to balance their own children doing distance leaning all while teaching our kids. Reach out to your teacher...ask if there is anything you can do to help support them...open communication is going to be a lifesaver during this time...they may have tips or tricks to try to help keep kids engaged.

Whether you agree or not with the measures put forth by the governor, the best thing that we can do for our kids is to demonstrate grace and kindness. Show them that whenever tough situations come their way that they can grow, learn new problem solving skills, and treat others as they would want to be treated.

This isn’t an easy time for ANYONE...everyone is facing a struggle and all that we can do right now is support one another and and help each other out. If you have an idea for a non-screen time educational activity, please drop it below...I know all of us could use ideas! ☺️

A huge shoutout to PJ’s Landscaping and Hauling for clearing out all of the cardboard from the containers at the fireworks stand! They are amazing, prices are spot on, and the customer service is top notch!!

💥Y’all! WE. SOLD. OUT!! 🙌🏻 It was a crazy week but so worth it!! Stay tuned...We will be announcing the winners later today 🎉
