Becoming a better public speaker is only the beginning…

08/15/2026

Everybody wants to know how confidence is built, how public speaking gets easier, and how leaders are made…

The secret? You’ve got to be in the room where it happens. 🎶

The room is where our members actually step up to practice, take on new roles, give their first speeches, and learn from each other.

And this week was no exception.

We celebrated some big milestones:

🎤 2 Icebreaker speeches (always a moment to celebrate!)
🎤 1 first-time Toastmaster of the Day
✨ Lots of laughter, hands-on learning, and fun

Afterward, members described the energy as “incredible and lively” and noted the tremendous growth they’re seeing.

You don’t get that spark from watching from the sidelines.

You’ve got to be in the room where it happens. 🎶

Join us at an upcoming Sugar Hill Toastmasters meeting.

📅 Every Wednesday | 12–1 PM
Guests are always welcome!

Toastmasters, the gift that keeps on giving.

07/31/2026

This is what Toastmasters is all about. 💙

At our last meeting, one guest shared that she immediately felt supported, encouraged, and knew this was exactly where she needed to be.

Another guest, who described herself as an overthinker, found the courage to stand up and answer an impromptu Table Topics® question. With encouragement from everyone in the room, she stepped outside her comfort zone and practiced a skill she openly admitted she struggles with.

We also celebrated a member who took feedback from a previous speech, made meaningful improvements, and delivered it again with renewed confidence.

That’s the power of a supportive community.

Ready to get out of your head, strengthen your communication skills, and grow as a leader in a welcoming environment? Curious about Toastmasters? Guests are always welcome, and we’d love to welcome you.

If you’ve completed a Pathways project or level, don’t forget to Push the Button. Every achievement moves both you and our club forward.

🔘 Push the Button!
Keep your Pathways progress current

Don’t wait until the end of your Toastmasters path to record your progress.

Base Camp is designed to help you track your accomplishments as you go. Waiting until you’ve completed an entire path to update everything creates unnecessary work for you and your Base Camp Managers. Keeping your progress current helps ensure you receive timely credit for your achievements and makes the approval process much smoother.

Here’s how to stay on track:

1️⃣ Complete your project in Base Camp.
After delivering your speech, return to Base Camp and complete all remaining activities, including the Assess Your Skills self-assessment, to officially mark the project complete.

2️⃣ Record meeting roles as you go.
Add required meeting roles to your Base Camp profile as you complete them. It’s much easier than trying to remember dates months later.

3️⃣ Submit completed levels for approval.
Once you’ve finished all the requirements for a level, submit it for approval. Keeping level approvals current helps prevent a backlog and ensures your educational achievements are recognized in a timely manner.

4️⃣ Complete your path.
After all five levels have been approved, complete Reflect on Your Path and submit your final Path Completion request.

💡 Pro Tip: Base Camp Managers approve level completion requests. Your Path Completion request is submitted after you’ve completed your entire path.

📢 Club Officers: Share this post with your members and encourage them to keep their Pathways progress up to date. Every completed level helps members receive the recognition they’ve earned while supporting your club’s DCP goals.

Members of the Sugar Hill Toastmasters leadership team attended District 214’s inaugural Summer Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) this past weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee, joining club leaders from across four states for a day of learning, collaboration, and leadership development.

The team returned with fresh ideas, renewed energy, and practical strategies to create an even better experience for every member.

Congratulations to District 214 on a successful inaugural Summer TLI, and thank you for investing in club leaders and the future of our clubs.
