Our spacious classrooms, outdoor learning area

s, and enrichment programs are designed to support each child’s independence, creativity, confidence, and lifelong love of learning. SSMS is owned and operated by Nikhil and Aparna Banka, a husband-and-wife team with Master’s degrees and extensive management and operations experience. Their appreciation for Montessori education began when their son, Shaan, attended a Montessori school. Seeing the positive impact of Montessori firsthand inspired them to create a school where children could feel loved, supported, and encouraged to grow at their own pace. Stepping Stone Montessori School is also a heartfelt tribute to Aparna’s younger brother, Uday, whose name means “to rise.” The Banka family’s vision is for every child who enters SSMS to rise with confidence, kindness, independence, and a strong educational foundation. SSMS is proud to be an American Montessori Society (AMS) member school and a 2-Star Quality Rated program, reflecting our commitment to high-quality early childhood education and care. Our Suwanee/Sugar Hill campus offers large classrooms, outdoor play areas, enrichment opportunities, and outdoor learning experiences where children can explore nature, plant flowers and vegetables, and learn the importance of caring for the earth. To support the needs of busy families, SSMS operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Object Permanence Box

The Object Permanence Box is a simple but meaningful Montessori activity that helps infants and toddlers begin to understand that an object still exists even when it can no longer be seen.

As children place the object into the box and watch it reappear, they strengthen cognitive development, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, concentration, and problem-solving abilities.

This hands-on activity also encourages curiosity, repetition, and independent exploration—important foundations for early learning.

What a wonderful evening of learning, connection, and celebration!

During Curriculum Night, our teachers shared meaningful insights into a variety of Montessori lessons, giving families a closer look at the purpose behind the materials and how each activity supports a child’s development.

Our students also had the opportunity to proudly showcase their work, demonstrating the independence, concentration, confidence, and love of learning that grow each day in the Montessori classroom.

We loved sharing a glimpse into the thoughtful, hands-on learning experiences that make Montessori education so special. Thank you to all of our families who joined us for such a meaningful evening!

🐄 Farm Animal Sensory Bin 🐷🌾

Learning through sensory play makes every discovery more exciting!

In this Montessori-inspired activity, children explore a tray filled with rice as they search for hidden farm animals. The excitement of finding and identifying each animal keeps children engaged while encouraging hands-on exploration.

As children scoop, search, grasp, and name the animals they find, they strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, sensory awareness, and language development.

Point of Interest: Discovering the hidden farm animals and identifying each one.

Simple sensory activities like this give children opportunities to explore, learn, and build important skills through purposeful play. 💛

This activity should always be completed under adult supervision.
