It’s been a full weekend for the Golden Rocket Band with two contests yesterday and a trip to Cedar Point today! Yesterday we placed third overall (congrats to Dublin Coffman and Licking Heights) at Watkins, and then swept all captions at Perkins to earn Grand Champion. It was very exciting to see our young guard win Best Overall! Thank you to all the parents and friends that helped with logistics and/or made the long drives to support our performances!

Elena Smith is another BU Alum alumni demonstrating her talents on the collegiate marching band field! A student at Wright State, she is a member of the University of Dayton (Mr. Latorre's Alma Mater) marching band as part of a joint program between the two schools!

It was a great night for us at the OMEA Bloom Carroll band contest: a Superior rating, Best Music, Best GE, and Best Visual, and Overall Grand Champs in a field of 10 bands! Congrats to Hilliard Davidson (Best Percussion, and Reserve Grand Champ) and St. Clairsville (Best Auxiliary). We can't wait to perform again next week at Watkins and Perkins!

Although the weather didn’t give us a chance to perform on Saturday, Stephanie Horton was at the home game on Friday and as always captured great shots of both pregame and halftime! Thanks for all hours you put into this Stephanie!!

Friday was our first performance in full uniforms and Stephanie Horton got some great pics of the band, including the combined pregame ceremony in honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

Your hard working BUGRMB was out again today, performing in the Pickerington Lions Club Labor Day Parade. We showed up early to get a full ensemble music rehearsal in before the start of the parade. This was band’s 7th performance this season, and we have already logged almost 600 miles of travel! 🚍🚍

We love seeing our alumni displaying their musical talents in college bands! Here is 2026 graduate Hayden Dale, at his first football game as a member of the battery in the 600-person strong Bowling Green marching band, officially the largest college band in the country! Go Hayden, we are so proud of you!

It was by far the hottest performance of the season so far, but we brought our big sound tonight to the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival Parade! It was great to see so many Berne Union folks along the parade route cheering us on!
