Suffolk Public Schools is currently operating on a summer schedule, with schools and offices closed on Fridays. In observance of Juneteenth, all schools and offices will also be closed on Thursday, June 18. Regular summer operations will resume on Monday, June 22.

We’re excited to welcome the newest cohort of students participating in the S.T.A.R. (Start Together & Rise) Student Internship Program this summer. Our high school juniors and seniors have officially signed their internship contracts and are ready to gain real-world experience while working alongside professionals across Suffolk Public Schools. Through this unique program, students will develop valuable workplace skills, explore career interests, and make meaningful contributions to departments throughout the division.

We are proud to invest in the future of our students and can’t wait to see all they accomplish this year. Congratulations and welcome to our 2026-2027 S.T.A.R. summer interns!

The graduating classes of King’s Fork High School, Nansemond River High School, and Lakeland High School have much to celebrate:

Beginning Monday, June 8 - Friday, August 7, 2026, all schools and departments will transition to a four-day work week. Summer office hours will be Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with the following exceptions:

Facilities Department: 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Technology Department 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The Juneteenth Holiday will be observed on Thursday, June 18th and Independence Day will be observed on Thursday, July 2nd. Therefore, all schools and departments will be closed on June 18th, June 19th, July 2nd and July 3rd.

Normal office hours will resume on Monday, August 10th.

Today marks the last day of school for Suffolk Public Schools, and we couldn't be more proud of all that our students, staff, and families have accomplished throughout the year! As we begin summer break, we wish everyone a safe, happy, and relaxing summer filled with fun, family, and new adventures. Thank you to our teachers, staff, families, and community partners for helping make this school year a memorable one. Congratulations to Nansemond River High School's Dr. Karen Waddell on being named a Quarterfinalist for the 2027 Grammy Music Educator Award! Selected as one of just 202 quarterfinalists nationwide, Ms. Waddell earned this prestigious recognition from a pool of more than 2,100 nominations submitted across the country.

We are incredibly proud of Dr. Waddell and this well-deserved honor! Join us in wishing her the best as she advances through the selection process. The next round of finalists will be announced in September.
