By the time a child says it, the signs have usually been there for years — we just didn't have a reason to look yet.

The hopeful part: they can be spotted early, sometimes as early as kindergarten. Search & Teach© is a 20-minute screening of the foundational skills reading is built on, paired with targeted next steps for the kids who need them. Developed by Drs. Archie Silver and Rosa Hagin at NYU School of Medicine, it reliably flags the kids who need help — early enough to change what happens next.
