Epsilon Iota Lambda proudly announces the inaugural recipients of the Herman T. Benn Legacy of Service Award.
Herman T. Benn was more than just a brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He was history-making for the City of Suffolk and for our nation, and he opened doors for Black leaders and attorneys who followed in his footsteps. His legacy will impact those who are later initiated into this great fraternity through the Epsilon Iota Lambda Chapter.
We are honored to announce these inaugural recipients who are part of that legacy.

Brothers of Epsilon Iota Lambda were proud to witness the ribbon cutting of the new refrigerated food locker at Sentara Obici Hospital! 🥦❄️
This initiative addresses local food insecurity by giving patients and neighbors easy access to healthy food.
Shoutout to one of our incredible community partners, Suffolk Christian Fellowship Center, for leading the stocking and outreach efforts. It truly takes a village! 🙌

On this Memorial Day, the Epsilon Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. joins the nation in honoring the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom.
Memorial Day is more than just a long weekend, a cookout, or a day off—it is a day of deep reflection and remembrance. We honor the soldiers who never made it home, and the families who still carry the weight of their absence.
We remember the soldiers who never made it home, and the families who still carry the silent weight of their service. Every right we exercise, and every dream we pursue, rests upon their courage.
Grounded in our fraternity’s history of leadership and resilience, we pay special tribute to the African American servicemen and women who stood with unwavering bravery to defend this country. Their legacy calls us not just to remember, but to act—to uplift our communities and stand firmly for justice.
May we never forget their courage. May we never take their sacrifice for granted.
