FIELD DAY FUN AT SCA! 🎉☀️

What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of an amazing school year! Our students spent the day building friendships, making memories, and enjoying some friendly competition during SCA's annual Field Day.

From our Preschool students enjoying fishing games and sidewalk chalk creations, to Lower School students tackling mazes, limbo, tug-of-war, and other exciting challenges, there was fun around every corner. Middle and High School students brought their competitive spirit to games like 9 square, co****le, volleyball, and dodgeball as they competed alongside their color teams.

Field Day is always a special opportunity for students of all ages to laugh, encourage one another, and celebrate the community that makes SCA so special!!

In observance of Juneteenth, our offices and summer camp will be closed on Friday, June 19.

Juneteenth marks the celebration of freedom and serves as a reminder of the dignity and value of every person. As a school community, we continue to encourage learning, reflection, and gratitude for the freedoms we share. We pray for wisdom, unity, and compassion as we seek to love and serve others well.

🎓 Alumni Spotlight: Owen Cobb ('25) 🎓

Since graduating from SCA in 2025, Owen has completed his first year at Methodist University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Golf Management and earned all A’s during his freshman year! This summer, he is interning at Indian Hill Club in Illinois, gaining hands-on experience in tournament operations, customer service, and golf club management. Owen’s goal is to become a Head Golf Professional at a private club and continue growing as a leader in the golf industry. One of his favorite memories from SCA was being part of the golf team, where the relationships and experiences helped shape his passion for the game.
His advice to current students: “Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way—you never know where it might lead.”

Today we celebrate a leader who leads with wisdom, grace, and a heart for others. Mrs. VanDorn, we are so thankful for the way you love and encourage our students, families, and staff each day. Your contagious smile brightens every room, and your dedication to our SCA community is a true blessing.

✈️🌎 Passport to Fun is officially underway at SCA Summer Camp!

We've wrapped up our first two weeks of summer adventures, and what a great start it has been! Week 1, Camp Take Off, launched us into a summer full of excitement, friendship, creativity, and learning. Week 2, Into the Jungle, took our campers on a wild adventure that included an unforgettable field trip to the Norfolk Zoo! 🦁🐒🦒

From hands-on activities and new discoveries to plenty of laughter and fun, our campers have been making memories while learning along the way. We can't wait to see where our Passport to Fun takes us next! 🌟

🏀🏐⚽ Get ready for an exciting summer at SCA!

We're thrilled to launch our SCA Summer Sports Camps, featuring basketball, volleyball, and soccer opportunities for rising K5–12th grade students. Camps are open to everyone, not just SCA students, so invite your friends and family to join the fun!

Each camper will receive an official camp t-shirt, and our coaches are excited to help athletes grow their skills, build confidence, and have a great time this summer.

🎓 Alumni Spotlight: Jadyn Patton (‘22) 🎓

Since graduating from Suffolk Christian Academy in 2022, Jadyn has earned her B.S. in Pre-Professional Health Sciences, Exercise Science, and Health & Human Performance with a minor in Psychology from Ferrum College. During college, she served as President of SAAC, was a two-year women’s soccer captain, and earned multiple academic honors while interning in sports medicine and strength & conditioning.
Jadyn is now pursuing her Master’s in Athletic Training at University of Virginia with hopes of working in Division I or professional athletics after certification.
She also shared that her senior trip to Colorado with SCA remains one of her favorite memories and is something she still talks about often! We are proud to see all God is doing through Jadyn’s journey.

The Lady Knights Softball team showed incredible growth, grit, and determination this spring season! 🥎💙

Despite being a young team made up entirely of 9th graders and younger competing on a Varsity schedule, the girls continued to improve all year long. The team finished the season with an impressive .362 batting average, stole over 58 bases, and scored over 100 runs, all while showing heart and perseverance every step of the way.

We are proud of this hardworking group and excited for what the future holds for Lady Knights Softball! ✨

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Bill Ford to the Suffolk Christian Academy team as an Upper School Math Teacher! 💙🤍

Mr. Ford grew up in Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC, where he played both football and baseball in high school. He later graduated from the Coast Guard Academy, where he came to trust Christ through the ministry of the Navigators.

He and his wife, Ruth Ford, have been married for 35 years and are actively involved at Westside Church in Chesapeake’s Western Branch area. Mr. Ford enjoys music, reading, and travel, and has had the opportunity to combine those passions through mission choir trips to Guatemala and Canada with Virginia Voices International in Virginia Beach.

With 40 years of experience teaching high school math in Virginia public schools and investment in his local church, Mr. Ford's experience and knowledge will be a great asset to our team as we seek to prepare our students academically and spiritually.

Be sure to give him a warm welcome around campus in the fall!

Our school offices will be open Monday–Thursday from 8:00 AM–3:30 PM throughout the summer and closed on Fridays.
