The Women’s Impact Fund is thrilled to celebrate the Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk (CAPS) as one of our 2025 grant awardees!
In November 2025, WIF awarded CAPS a $5,000 grant to provide emergency housing assistance for families in Suffolk and Western Tidewater. And the impact has already been incredible:

🏠 10 households supported
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 27 individuals helped — including 16 children
💡 Funds used for rental and security‑deposit assistance, preventing housing instability and potential homelessness.

We are deeply grateful to Sharon Holland, Executive Director of CAPS, and her amazing team for their tireless work to alleviate poverty and protect families in our community. 💙

We'll be exploring Suffolk and learning more about health, education, economic development, the environment, arts, public safety, and more.

If you want to explore Suffolk and you're interested in community leadership, check out Suffolk 360, our new leadership program designed to help you . It's a partnership of the Suffolk Foundation and the City of Suffolk, and the seven evening sessions will be held all across Suffolk at different locations--yup, including the LIGHTHOUSE--so cool. Every session will be a different theme, led by the most amazing community leaders.

Whether you’re new to Suffolk, or Peanut-born-and-Peanut-bred, this is a great way to network and learn more about community issues.
