🌿Did you know that taking your kids outside isn’t just about burning off energy today? It’s literally building their resilience for tomorrow.

🌺Our Second Seaside Playgroup was filled with sun-kissed memories and lots of aloha!
Kumu (“Teacher”) Katrina led the class as Seaside Playgroup began with our Welina (“Welcome”) activity, where our ohanas matched shells, explored books about the sea, and enjoyed open-ended water play. They eagerly searched the beach for rocks, shells, and pieces of makai treasures to create beautiful sea star imprints. It was a beautiful beach morning filled with curiosity, creativity, and hands-on exploration of our coastal environment.

Yesterday, Forest Playgroup kicked off our pilot “Seaside Playgroup”, trading the tree line for the shoreline with a touch of Hawaiian culture… and what a wonderful morning it was!

Together we greeted the day with “Good Morning Dear Earth” and sang our Hukilau Song before gathering for a hands-on pūpū (shell) discussion. The keiki (children) explored real conch, mussel, and clam shells, along with crabs, learning about the treasures of our coastline.

The ohanas then set off on a nature exploration, searching for seashells along the shore, discovering the unique colors, shapes, and textures nature had to offer.

We wrapped up our morning with story and snack time before using our collected shells to create imaginative “seashell soup” in our sensory play.

Mahalo to all our families who joined us for this special first seaside adventure. We can’t wait for many more mornings of exploring, learning, and connecting with nature together! 🌺🌊🐚

🌼 Yesterday’s Forest Playgroup had a whimsical woodland adventure filled with playtime, family, love, togetherness and… flowers! Not only did our families learn how to identify its parts through play, but they also explored the parts as they engaged in the therapeutic art of sensory-rich flower pounding (after foraging their own from our woodlands, of course). ☮️
Our final spring class was absolutely wonderful, as always. See everyone on the seashore for Seaside Playgroup in July!

🌿Our woodlands were adorned with lovely leaves, tall trees, creativity and so much color this morning for our Forest Playgroup! While learning all about leaves and trees, our families worked together to identify different plants while discovering more about them. For our nature activity today, Ms. Katrina lead the class in creating our very own art with leaf rubbings from foraged leaves! 🍃

🌊🌺Introducing Seaside Playgroup!

Same heart, different horizon. This July and August, Forest Playgroup is trading the treeline for the shoreline!
We are so excited to announce our Summer Pilot Pop-Up Classes, where we’ll be bringing our signature rhythm and nature-based play and exploration to the beach with a touch of Hawaiian culture.
Whether your little one is a seasoned explorer or a first-time sand-shoveler, there’s a spot by the tide for your ohana.
