Extreme Heat Warning: July 1 – July 4
The Town of Suffield is expecting dangerously hot temperatures and high humidity from Wednesday, July 1 through Saturday, July 4, with heat index values potentially reaching into the 100s.
Residents are urged to take this heat seriously. Limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight when possible, and check on older adults, children, neighbors, and pets.
For residents looking for an air-conditioned place to get out of the heat, the following Town buildings will be open during normal operating hours:
Town of Suffield Senior Center
Wednesday & Thursday
8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Closed Friday for the holiday
Kent Memorial Library
Wednesday & Thursday
9:30 AM – 8:00 PM
Closed Friday & Saturday for the holiday

Residents who may need accommodations for Friday or Saturday should make preparations now.

The SHS culinary classes had a fantastic visit to Drago’s Kitchen! Chef Drago gave students a behind-the-scenes tour of the kitchen, shared how his team implements ServSafe standards, and answered questions about his culinary career and experience as an entrepreneur.
Students also had the opportunity to try Chef Drago’s famous pancakes! Thank you to Chef Drago and his team for an unforgettable experience!

While the town and school district have invested in ongoing maintenance and repairs to the middle school, the facility's needs now involve major systems such as HVAC, roofing, accessibility, electrical infrastructure, and overall building layout, and require comprehensive planning and coordinated investment.
As planning has continued, three potential scenarios for the future of Suffield Middle School have been developed and presented to the community. Visit our website to learn more!
