The Sam Draper Honors Program at Rockland Community College is nationally recognized for offering highly advanced academic pursuits and for preparing students to transfer successfully to Ivy League and other outstanding four-year colleges.

For community college sophomores or recent graduates planning to transfer to a four-year institution in the fall of 2027, the Jack Kent Cooke foundation provides this national scholarship to eligible students to help them complete their bachelor’s degree with the least amount of debt! The requirements of eligibility are:

• Have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or above.
• Demonstrate financial need. (consider applicants with maximum annual family gross income up to $95,000.)
• Have not previously attended a four-year college or university.

The scholarship can be as much as $55,000 a year for the last two to three years to complete a bachelor’s degree. Not only does the scholarship provide financial support, but recipients of the scholarship also receive educational advising to help with the process of transitioning to a four-year college. They are also connected with a network of 4,000 Cooke Scholars and Alumni. Cooke Scholars also receive opportunities for internships, study abroad, and graduate school funding.

The honors program has had students win this prestigious scholarship before. The most recent students being in 2025 with Natalia Benitez Levina (pictured on the left) and Reni Fashipe (pictured on the right)!
