As the weather gets warmer remember to take some time to explore the outdoors. Nature goes through a lot of changes, and there is so much to see. Here are two fun activities that will be fun for the kids and you too!

Nature scavenger hunt:

- Make a list of things you start to see in spring (ex: flowers, birds, bugs, leaves etc.)

- Walk around your neighborhood and try to find them all!

Make bird feeders:

- Grab an egg carton and with parental supervision cut it in half. Put the cover to the side.

- Decorate the bottom half of the carton with whatever you would like.

- Attach string on either side of the carton and tie it at the top.

- Fill the egg carton with bird food. Hang it up on a branch near your favorite spot in your backyard. Then just wait and see, all the birds will be coming to eat from your fabulous bird feeder.

Bubble wrap! Everybody loves bubble wrap! Here is a fun activity to help with gross motor skills (helps with the large muscles in the arms, legs and torso.)

Things you will need:

- Paint (you can use one color or four! It's up to you!)
- Paper (preferably larger paper like easel paper)
- Painters tape
- Scissors
-Paintbrush
- Paper plate

Directions:

1. Roll out two to three long lengths of easel paper and place then next to each other

2. Tape down the paper to the floor

3. Put some paint on the paper plate (if you have more than one color you just place it in the same paper plate, make sure the colors are separate)

4. Cut bubble wrap to make a little boot on your child’s foot. If they have long pants on make sure to roll up the legs.

5. Sit your child next to the paper so when they get up to paint they don't get paint on your floors. With the paintbrush, paint the bottom of your child’s bubble wrap boot. You can paint one foot a different color or you can paint each foot multiple colors, it's up to you!

6. Now it’s time to paint! Your child can walk, jump, skip or dance around the paper and watch the colors go! Remember to have fun and make sure to listen out for all those bubbles popping!

* You can stop to add more paint if the paint starts to fade.

Another fun experiment to get your child's mind working. I know playing with your food is not something we teach our children but I think we can make an exception to that rule for this fun colorful experiment.

Things you will need:

- Shallow bowl
- Full fat milk
- Food coloring (different colors)
- Q-tips
- Dishwashing liquid

Directions:

1. Cover the bottom of the bowl with milk

2. Put a few drops of different colors of food coloring into the milk

3. Add a drop of the dishwashing liquid onto the Q-tip

4. Stick the Q-tip into the center of your mix and watch the magic happen!

Another way to make this experiment fun is, instead of adding dishwashing liquid to the Q-tip try adding a drop directly to your mixture. Once the colors stop moving try blowing lightly on the mixture to get the colors moving again.
