The 2023 January Drama Intersession Production was announced to the students on Monday! So now, it’s your turn!!
This community-wide, all school collaborative project is our most widely heralded and each year students, parents, our Board — and alums! — can’t wait for the annual announcement! We hope you’ll be just as excited as we are!
Beyond being an incredible artistic and theatrical feat and a one-of-a-kind opportunity for our passionate Arts and Performance oriented students to gain valuable training and experience in acting, dance, voice and music theory, The Drama Intersession goes much farther and teaches far more than one might imagine a “School Play” capable!
Each year, this month-long break from academics (but not from learning!) actively provides our students continuous in-the-moment scenarios through which (under watchful eyes) learn skills and develop strategies /strategy development and appropriately learn to integrate these “on the go”.
Over the course of five short weeks, the student population takes a Masterclass in the areas of Mindfulness, Life and Social Pragmatics skills, Self-Advocacy and Responsibility, Leadership and Inclusion, as The Process of “The Play” successfully scaffolds, educates and encourages all of our students (regardless of their preferred interests) to recognize the Greater Focus, recognize talents in all areas and identify individual skills and work to use these to offer their community and contribute to the success of the production overall, and do so at such a truly rare and unique level that year after year, the productions are truly Masterpieces.
Please enjoy a few of our favorite from over the last several years… and don’t miss this announcement at the very end!!
Make sure to stay tuned for performance times and all the details— including a Reserved Performance with a post-show talkback with the Director for educators, associated professionals and parents interested in learning more about the application and benefits of using theatre and performance to further learning and life skills!
We hope we’ll see you in the audience this year!

Very proud of our students and faculty who today participated in the Climate Change Demonstration in Boston! Some photos of the group, taken by Head of School, Jane Jakuc, prior to their departure to the rally! Jane has been a life-long adamant supporter of supportive and progressive individual voice and a believer in safe and responsible demonstration in response to calls for action when they matter to those who wish to voice them. In fact (though she might humbly deny) without her and the educators she has encouraged and inspired, the culture and support of special education in metro west Massachusetts may not have developed as fully as it has over the last 50 years.. Seeing the students responsibly, carefully, safely and respectfully share their views today was truly meaningful for her, and for us all.
Check out the wonderful rally sign created by students Roxanne and Aidan! -- "Broccoli can't grow underwater!"
Congratulations and thank you for making it clear to all who will listen that it's vital that we sustain our strength as a community, planet, and service towards the future!
We appreciate the work of our student leaders: AJ S; Sam G; Rowan C, the participation of one of our youngest community members (2.5 years old) Clara(!) -- as well as the exceptional dedication and work of faculty members Pamela C, Declan D, Lisa L, Jason S, Jane J, and Steve L, and parent Brigitta C; for keeping our kids safe and scaffolded as they shared their views, opinions and position regarding climate change with the world!
