We are a group of 8th grade students trying to raise awareness about balcony solar and trying to make it more accessible.
Balcony solar, also called plug-in solar:
- helps people get started with switching to solar energy
- costs a lot less compared to rooftop solar panels.
- can easily be plugged into a standard power outlet without a large installation and can be put in many different locations.
An issue is that in many states, balcony solar has many rules making it very complicated to install, leading to less places using it.

Life Skills Class at LSRHS- Survey Link: https://forms.gle/PsS8CNvMX386erpcA
We are a group of 8th-grade students from Ephraim Curtis Middle School working on a Civics Action Project focused on promoting the addition of a Life Skills course at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. We believe that while students at L-S receive a strong academic education, many students would also benefit from learning practical real-world skills that will help prepare them for adulthood and independence after graduation.
Our proposed Life Skills course would focus heavily on financial literacy and job preparation. Topics could include learning how to manage money, create and maintain a bank account, understand credit and loans, pay taxes, budget responsibly, and learn the basics of investing and saving for the future. In addition, students could develop important career-readiness skills such as writing resumes, preparing for interviews, understanding workplace expectations, and learning how to apply for jobs.

We believe this course would provide valuable knowledge that many students may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn in school, while helping them feel more confident and prepared for life after high school. Our goal is to gather feedback from students, educators, and community members to better understand the need for a course like this and explore how it could become a meaningful addition to the Lincoln-Sudbury curriculum. - Rowan, Leah, Avery, Sam, Dasha, and Agnes
