βοΈπ Today at RHS, we wore yellow for Microcephaly Awareness Day!
Our Gael community came together to support everyone living with microcephaly, including Summer, the 13-year-old sister of Salma Zidan and her familyβs warrior. πΌ
Microcephaly is a neurological disorder that results in a childβs head circumference being smaller then normal at birth. This condition can be caused by a number of things. Diagnosis could be before or after birth. It is sometimes genetic and other times not and will most likely cause neurological impairment in their life. These problems can range from mild to severe and are often lifelong.
Thank you, Salma, for sharing Summerβs story and helping our community learn more. Thank you to everyone who wore yellow today to show support for Summer and all individuals and families affected by microcephaly! π
Here are a few pictures from today, showing just a small portion of the students and staff who participated! πΈπ
