A soulful moment with Dcn. Roy Goetz, doing what he does best, making music. Grateful we caught this candid moment in the calm before our students returned from fall break. 💙

A special milestone for a Subi brother.

This weekend in Wichita, Xander Rankin received the Sacrament of Confirmation, completing his initiation into the Catholic Church. Four of his Subi brothers, Logan Hess, Luke Rainwater, Tanner Komp, and Joey Sparks, made the trip to celebrate this important moment with him.

Since graduating from Subiaco in 2023, these young men have made the extra effort to stay in touch and get together regularly whenever they can, even while attending colleges in Texas, Arkansas, and Kansas.

At Subiaco, our young men grow up closely connected to the monks of our Abbey, with the teachings of the Catholic faith woven throughout their days. We are grateful for the opportunity to plant those seeds, and we give thanks to God for the ways He brings them to life.

We’re proud of these young men and the brotherhood they continue to carry with them. They show up for each other. That’s the Subi brotherhood.

What a joyful day at Frontier Days! 🇺🇸

There’s something special about a small-town festival. A parade, antique cars, handmade crafts, great food trucks, familiar faces, and new friends. It’s the charm of rural America and the warmth of small-town hospitality at its best.

Subiaco Abbey and Academy were glad to have a booth at the festival, with representatives from both ministries throughout the day. Our monks were especially happy to see so many familiar faces, and the Abbey Peanut Brittle and Monk Hot Sauce were a hit, too! 😊 Some of our international students also enjoyed the festival alongside our Residential Life Coordinator, taking in a little of the local community and small-town hospitality that surrounds Subiaco.

A big thank you to our community for welcoming and supporting us so generously. You are an important part of what makes it possible for Subiaco Abbey to live out its two ministries: Hospitality and Education.

Our doors are always open, and we welcome you to come visit the Abbey and Academy anytime.

We’re proud to see our own Mrs. Shelley Applegate, Student Support Services and Counselor at Subiaco Academy, sharing her expertise at Catholic Educators’ Professional Day at Christ the King Parish and School in Little Rock.

Mrs. Applegate presented What General Education Teachers Need to Know About Special Education, equipping teachers with practical strategies to support students with special needs and accommodations in the classroom.

Her message centered on an important goal: creating classrooms where every student has the tools and support needed to learn and succeed.

We’re grateful for the knowledge and experience Mrs. Applegate brings to our Subiaco community and for her willingness to share that expertise with fellow Catholic educators.

At Subiaco Academy, our administrators don’t just lead from behind their desks. They lead in the classroom, too.

You’ll find our Head of School, Mr. Dan Smith, teaching Algebra in the classroom and coaching our young men on the basketball court.

You’ll find Ms. Cheryl Goetz, Assistant Head of School for Academics and Communications, teaching English and guiding students through college planning and counseling.

You’ll find Mr. Mike Monahan, Assistant Head of School for Teaching Innovations, teaching our young men, directing our Schola, and individually guiding students as they work to improve their testing scores.

And you’ll find Fr. Raban Heyer, Assistant Head of School for Mission and Ministry, teaching English, coaching our Cross Country team, and walking alongside our young men in their faith and formation.

They teach, coach, advise, mentor, counsel and serve our community and students in countless other ways that allow them to truly know our students.

We’re blessed to have administrators who are so deeply invested in our students’ lives, both inside and outside the classroom.
