📚🔎 Meet the PAE Library Review Team! 🔎📚

We are excited to have a group of students serving on our PAE Library Review Team! These students are helping us take a closer look at books in our library that are not currently circulating to help determine whether they should remain in our collection or make room for something new. 📖✨

Anyone can join the Review Team! Students can choose a book to review, read it, and complete a short review form sharing their thoughts and feedback. 📝📚

Our Review Team has been busy evaluating some familiar favorites, including The Berenstain Bears and Curious George! 🐻🐵

We truly appreciate our students taking this responsibility seriously and sharing their valuable feedback, ideas, and perspectives. What better way to help shape our library than by giving students a voice in the collection? ❤️📚

Our Ricebirds are continuing to READ, READ, READ! 🐦📖 We have some exciting updates to our Read & Repeat program!

🎯 New points have been achieved, and we are so proud of the students who are working hard to reach their reading goals! Every point represents another book, another page, and another step toward becoming a stronger reader. ❤️🤍

📚🌟 BONUS OPPORTUNITY!
Students can earn bonus points for reading chapter books! This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself, read a longer book, and earn extra points toward those exciting rewards!

This week in K–2 Enrichment, students are putting the Engineering Design Process to work.

🛶 1st grade explored aluminum in Arkansas boat manufacturing and designed boats that could float a Unifix cube.

🪂 2nd grade explored gravity and air resistance by designing parachutes to safely land a mini eraser.

What makes a Monday better? When Kareem brings donuts!! Snack time today was so much fun and just what we needed to kick off the week! 🎉

Students are leading the class through a vocal warm-up called Bobo! Bobo is a tennis ball with a slit cut for its mouth that you squeeze to make it look like it is singing. The students have to listen to the music and move their Bobo up or down according to the pitch being sung. So much fun!

🔠 CKLA Skills: We are finishing up reviewing first grade standards with a unit assessment, then moving into second grade sounds and spellings with a new unit.
🔢 Math: We are learning about adding and subtracting two-digit numbers.
📖 CKLA Knowledge: We are finishing up our learning about The Ancient Greek Civilization with a review, assessment, and a day of culminating activities.

Important for this week:
• CKLA Skills Unit 2 Assessment will be on Monday (10/5/26).
• CKLA Knowledge assessment for Knowledge 3 will be on Wednesday (10/7/26).
• Math assessment for Lesson 8 will be on Thursday (10/8/26).
• Math homework and spelling words will both be sent home on Monday! The spelling test will not be until next week!
• Early Dismissal is on Thursday (10/8/26) at 12:55 PM to allow time for Parent-Teacher Conferences from 2:00-7:00!
• Fall Break begins on Friday (10/9/26) and continues through next Tuesday (10/13/26)!

🍂✨ 1st Grade Weekly Learning Overview: October 5–9! ✨🍂

Happy Sunday, families! 💛 Here’s a peek at what our first graders are learning this week!

📚 Skills: We’ll continue Unit 2, working on tricky words, new sounds and spelling patterns, and reading stories such as Where Is the King?, The Swim Meet, and At the Reef.

🔢 Math: We’ll continue Unit 2, Lesson 7 – Add Three Numbers and take our Lesson 7 quiz on Thursday.

🌎 Knowledge: We’ll finish Knowledge 3: Different Lands, Similar Stories and begin Knowledge 4: Early World Civilizations.

✏️ Writing: Students will continue working on informational writing.

📅 Thursday: Early dismissal & Parent-Teacher Conferences
🍁 Friday: NO SCHOOL
