Please join us this Wednesday, August 26th at 7:10 PM for the ribbon cutting of our new outdoor classroom!
The Sevastopol Interact Club, sponsored by the Sturgeon Bay Breakfast Rotary has been able to coordinate the resources and volunteers to create an outdoor classroom space in the woods behind the school. The space will feature a small stage, outdoor whiteboards, benches that convert to picnic tables and a shed for storage. In addition to the outdoor classroom space, the club has also coordinated resources to establish Sevastopol's first community garden. The garden area, which will be located in proximity to the classroom will feature a tool shed, tools for student gardeners and a substantial garden fence to protect the plants.
Funding for the project includes a Volunteer Generation Fund grant through Serve Wisconsin, a Project Grant through Rotary District 6220, a Youth in Action grant through the Door County Community Foundation and significant contributions from Door County's three Rotary Clubs, Sturgeon Bay, Northern Door and Sturgeon Bay Breakfast.
Student leadership for the project has included Lily Snyder, Sienna Cain, Luna Ramirez, Abby Burke, Alaina LeClair, Taylor Kochanski and Lydia Schultz.
