Kitten Appliqué – Reggio Emilia Inspired Activity
Today at Valley Village Little School, our young artists embarked on a creative journey by making adorable orange paper kittens.
During the activity, the children independently selected and assembled the pieces, carefully glued the eyes, nose, whiskers, and tail, shared their ideas, and talked about what made their kitten unique. Every creation reflected the child’s own imagination and personality—one of the core principles of the Reggio Emilia approach.
This activity helps children develop:
✂️ Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
🎨 Creativity and imaginative thinking
👀 Attention to detail and observation skills
💬 Language development by describing and sharing their work
❤️ Self-confidence and pride in their accomplishments
We didn’t just create a craft—we created a warm, inspiring environment where children explored, imagined, collaborated, and celebrated their achievements.
In the Reggio Emilia philosophy, every child is capable, curious, and creative, and every project becomes an opportunity to discover, express, and learn through joyful experiences. 🌿🐱💕
