Chapman School of Seamanship will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

If you’re heading out on the water this holiday weekend, take a few minutes to prepare before you leave the dock. Check the weather, make sure your safety gear is onboard and ready, and let someone know where you’re going.

A little planning goes a long way toward a safer day on the water.
Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend from everyone at Chapman! ⚓

Boating has a way of creating traditions that stick with us. ⚓
Maybe it’s an annual fishing trip, a sunset cruise, a favorite sandbar, or always stopping at the same waterfront spot.
What boating tradition do you look forward to most? 🛥️

Our last 100R License Renewal class of 2026 is scheduled for Monday, October 19.

Applicants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate to present to the USCG within one year, satisfying the applicable training and sea time requirements for a deck license on vessels of not more than 100 gross tons.

The one-day course runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Tuition is $260 and includes books, course materials, and USCG testing fees.

If your license is coming up for renewal, this will be the final opportunity to complete the 100R course at Chapman this year.

Not a bad place to spend a Friday! ⚓
Another busy week is wrapping up at Chapman, with students learning in classrooms, working hands-on in the shop, learning to survey vessels, training around the docks, and spending time out on the water.

No matter the program, our focus stays the same - practical training, real experience, and developing skills that will last a lifetime.
That’s what Learn at the Helm is all about.

Have a great weekend from everyone at Chapman 🌴
