In 2003, David Lortz founded Independence Driving School in Stroudsburg. Fast forward to today, David and business partner Victor Villalta are taking their passion for driving education to a whole new level! Recognizing the trucker shortage and the need for skilled commercial drivers, they embarked on a new venture: training commercial drivers to meet the industry's demands.

David reached out to The University of Scranton SBDC for expert guidance to navigate the maze of registrations and business requirements for this new business. With the assistance of Patrick Keehan, SBDC Business Consultant, they crafted a solid business plan and financial projections that would pave the way for the lending process.

Victor has been instrumental in the planning and ex*****on of this expansion. He brings not only his strong CDL background, but sales and management experience as well. With his drive, determination (and a good sense of humor) he will make a great CEO. David will continue to support Victor and the business as COO. Together they are ready to take the market by storm and help satisfy this much-needed service.

After working through all the required paperwork and securing a location, Independence Driving School and CDL center LLC opened in April.
