She’s 5. And she’s already learning the habits that could change her health trajectory forever. 🧠

First we had her visit an ENT to have tonsils, adenoids, and tongue tie addressed.

Now we have her in an AMCOP myofunctional elastodontic device from

Myofunctional therapy isn’t just for kids with obvious problems. It’s about training the oral musculature to work the way it was designed to — so the face, airway, and bite can develop to their full potential.

The 3 rules are simple. They’re not new. But most kids (and adults) violate all three, all day long:

👅 Tongue on the spot — resting posture matters more than most dentists ever learn
👄 Lips together — mouth breathing is a habit with real structural consequences
👃 Breathe through your nose — it filters, humidifies, and produces nitric oxide. Your mouth is for eating and talking, not breathing.

If you’re a general dentist and you’re not screening your pediatric patients for orofacial myofunctional disorders — you’re missing it. Airway starts here.
This is what proactive oral wellness looks like. 🦷

Saw this post from and had to respond — because he’s right, and the research backs him up.
Mouth breathing is a problem. Not just at night (though the nighttime data is wild — oral pH dropping to 3.6 while you sleep is no joke). During the day too. Every hour you’re breathing through your mouth instead of your nose, you’re evaporating saliva, dropping your oral pH, and giving bacteria the green light.
Saliva isn’t just spit. It’s your mouth’s defense system. It buffers acid, kills bacteria, and remineralizes enamel. Take it away — day or night — and your teeth are on their own.
Studies in kids show mouth breathers have significantly higher rates of tooth decay even when you control for sugar intake. Let that sink in. The airway is a cavity risk factor we’re barely screening for.
And yet in most dental offices, we hand out a fluoride varnish and tell parents to cut back on candy, juice, and soda.
The mouth is downstream of the airway. Until we start looking upstream — at how our patients breathe — we’re just treating symptoms and calling it dentistry.
Dr. Macedo said fix the airway before the toothbrush. I’d add: fix the airway before the braces, before the crowns, before the fillings.
This is the conversation our profession needs to be having.

There is a myth out there that you can’t build muscle and strength while eating in a caloric deficit. That is absolute nonsense 💩.
If you have a medium to high body fat percentage (15+ men, 25+ women) you can absolutely get stronger while getting leaner.
Today I weighed in at 250, down from 330 about 14 months ago. My goal is to lose another 50 by end of year, WHILE increasing my max bench to 315.

One of the best ways I’ve found to build strength and size, while keeping your joints happy and not burning out in a deficit is pyramid training, slow and controlled progressive overload, and only lifting 2-3x per week. And of course, a protein centric diet built on whole, nutrient dense foods is a MUST!

I’m opening my DentalFit coaching and community spaces back up. I work primarily with dentists and dental professionals (RDH’s, RDA’s, folks who know the toll this profession can take on the body), but really I’m happy to help almost anyone.

It’s time to make this world a healthier place, and no better place to start than ourselves. Peace ✌️

So glad to get to see the great Dr. Larry White lecture again. This will be my third time.

Over the years, Dr White not only has taught me great techniques, but he changed the way I think about orthodontics.

There are people in every profession who carry the knowledge of a generation — who have seen it all, done it all, and still show up to pour into others. Dr. White is that person for orthodontics. He has published over 100 articles and several books. I still crack open his “Pearls” book to this day.

Thank you, Dr. White, for your legacy, your generosity, and for continuing to raise the standard for all of us who love this discipline.

Got this text from a student and knew I had to break it down. 🦷
Rotational relapse on laterals is one of the most frustrating things in clear aligner therapy — and it’s almost always preventable.
In this video I walk through:
→ Why rotations relapse even after “close enough” results
→ The biology behind why your aligner loses the battle
→ The exact 5-step protocol to fix it and hold it
This is real troubleshooting from a real case. No fluff.
If you’re grinding through refinement after refinement on a lateral and wondering what you’re missing — watch this one.

Day 1 DOWN. 🔥
We had doctors show up from all over the country today for Clear Aligner Bootcamp — and let me tell you, this group came to WORK.
No fluff. No sales pitch. No “here’s why our aligner system is the best.” Just real orthodontic education — biomechanics, diagnosis, clinical thinking — the stuff that actually changes how you practice.
The energy in that room was something else.
We wrapped up the day with a reception and headed out for dinner, which turned into exactly the kind of night you hope for when you get great clinicians together outside the classroom.
And THEN — completely unplanned — we walked into a Santa Claus convention happening at the hotel next door. Hundreds of Santas. Full beards, full suits, the whole thing. Honestly one of the best unscripted moments I’ve had at a course. Ever. 🎅😂
Day 2 tomorrow and we are NOT slowing down.
These doctors gave up a weekend to be here. I don’t take that lightly — and we’re going to make sure they go home with the tools to absolutely change their practices.
Let’s go. 💪

Non professional post. Purely personal and from the heart.

Tired of the outrage, depression, and nonstop negativity?
That ICE incident (and everything else) has a lot of us glued to our phones, spiraling.
Enough.
I’m challenging YOU to join me:
Delete your social media apps RIGHT NOW and turn your phone completely OFF for the entire weekend (Sat & Sun).
No doomscrolling. No notifications. No news. No cable either.
I’ll be shutting mine down at 10 PM tonight and won’t turn it back on until 5 AM Monday.
Instead:
• Hit 10K steps both days
• Do a solid 30-min heart-pumping workout (target ~180 - your age)
• Family park time if sunny, indoor fun or movies if not
• Cook a real meal together, watch a wholesome movie
• Read for pleasure (no politics!), journal, pray/meditate, Bible study, church, art, museum—anything real
Redownload apps Monday if you want. But give your brain this break from the BS.
Only check messages twice a day max—or keep it in Work mode with everything blocked.
Life is good. God is good. Time to reconnect without the noise.
Go live your weekend!
Blessings and love!
