Things in my life more important than powerlifting

My family comes first. They’re the base of my support in life. Whether it’s my wife, daughters, siblings, or parents doesn’t matter. They’re who mean the most to me. I’d drop anything to help my family.
My friends help to shape me and support me in life’s endeavors. I wouldn’t be who I am without my crew. I’d
Faith. Am I the best to tell you about faith and Christianity? Not at all. But without faith we are nothing.
Health. My overall health if it were to be hindered by powerlifting I would hang it up. My longevity means the world to me. I want to be here to raise my daughters . I want to grow old with my wife. Lord willing I will be around a long time.
Work… unfortunately… do I love my work? Not at all but without work I have no money.. without money I can’t support my family. So unfortunately work has to make the list. Being more important doesn’t always mean it’s something we enjoy more.
I love powerlifting. Don’t get me wrong. Making it our personality though is one of the worst things we can do. Don’t kid yourself powerlifting is not the center of your life. If it is.. then I’m sorry.
The drive to compete waxes and wanes. Lifting weights to me is no different than brushing my teeth. It’s something I’ll do for the rest of my life. Competing is awesome and an excellent way to see the fruits of our labor.
When it comes down to it though. Powerlifting is not that serious. Enjoy it but don’t forget to enjoy life too. You can get good at powerlifting without it consuming your life
No bench videos posted in a while other than in the story. So here is Buffalo bar bench from today.
5x4 @ 297ish 1st, 3rd and 5th set
Did five reps on last set since had a rare spotter for the day.
Why does a simple hand off and someone spotting make bench feel so much easier? 🤔 A decent spot goes a long ways. Be grateful for a good gym partner and extra grateful if they give a good handoff. Never realize how helpful it is until it is no longer the norm.
One year in my garage gym without stepping into an “actual gym”. Have added a lot of equipment a lot has been purchased second hand other than the bars and the rogue equipment.
Room to improve and upgrade. Excited to keep expanding the equipment in the tool belt and keep getting after it.
539 3x3 first and last set. Still getting the feel back for the SSB. Heaviest sets I’ve successfully completed with the SSB. Room for improvement. Felt alright. Supposed to be paused attempted on last set.
Rocking the carhartt tee LARPing as a blue collar worker instead of the pink collar nurse that I am. Happy week after nurses week for those of us that celebrate(d).

3x6 @508 on conventional deads from late last night. Having to try to not wake the girls has added an additional level to my deadlift days. No more hard set downs. Mostly slow descents and a touch and go.
Forgot to cancel my MLB subscription so this is actually my first season watching regular season baseball… Go Tribe! ⚾️
