Today, Strongsville City Schools is sending a big shout out to this week's Mustang Spotlight, Kelly Haggard! 💚🐎

Kelly Haggard is in her fifth year working in Strongsville City Schools as a Special Education Aide at Muraski Elementary. Kelly’s family has been part of the Strongsville community for generations and both of her daughters are currently in our District. Mike Griffen, Principal at Muraski, had this to say about ‘Miss Kelly’: “Kelly works extremely hard to support any and all students across all settings at our school. She is always willing to pitch in, provide an extra set of hands, and goes out of her way to connect with students so they can be more successful. She's a great team member, and she is a part of what makes Muraski special.”

Kelly adds, “My job is not really a job to me. It is a part of my life that brings tremendous joy. Being able to help these kiddos through a day in any shape or form is something I take great pride in. Honestly, they teach me and help me to be a better person just as much! My team at Muraski is such an incredible one. I have never seen or been a part of a team of people who work so well together and have fun while doing it. I’m so appreciative to be able to collaborate with all of them.”

Whitney Sidekicks are BACK! 💚⬇️

Whitney students kicked off the first Whitney Sidekicks of the school year, and the smiles said it all! 😊

Each student has a special buddy, and even sweeter, many of these Sidekicks are continuing their friendship with the same buddy they had last school year!

To start the year, Sidekicks gathered in circles to share favorite summer memories and reconnect with their buddies. ☀️ They then worked together to personalize a puzzle piece highlighting something they hope to achieve, learn, or accomplish with their Sidekick this year! 🧩

Here is to a great year, Mustangs! 🙌

Today, Strongsville City Schools is sending a big shout out to this week's Mustang Spotlight, Alyssa Lempner! 💚🐎

Alyssa Lempner has been a Kindergarten teacher at Kinsner Elementary for eight years. Alyssa earned her undergraduate degree and graduate degree from Kent State University.

“I love working with our youngest Mustangs and helping them to build a strong foundation and love for learning. I enjoy seeing the confidence and independence they gain from the beginning of the year to the end. It brings me so much joy to build relationships with my students, and I love when they come back to visit as the years go on. I also am proud of the positive atmosphere at Kinsner among the staff, students, and families. I feel so fortunate to work with an amazing “Team K” and to have a classroom environment that feels like my home away from home.”

Thank you Alyssa for starting our youngest Mustangs at Kinsner on a strong path for success! 💚

August 31 - September 4 is School Bus Safety Week. 🚌🛑

Our District will be conducting school bus evacuation drills in conjunction with School Bus Safety Week. Our SCS transportation staff will be conducting the drills and providing age-appropriate safety instructions for students.

Bus Safety Week provides an excellent opportunity to reinforce safe riding habits and remind students that safety is everyone's responsibility. Your cooperation helps ensure we remain in compliance with state requirements while preparing our students to respond confidently in an emergency situation. Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students safe.

🎶 Get ready to make some music! Our 5th grade students have been exploring the exciting world of band and orchestra instruments through special Instrument Showcase nights and opportunities during the school day.

From trumpets and flutes to violins, cellos, and so much more, there’s an instrument waiting for every young musician! 🎺🎻

🗓 Don’t forget! The Music Informational Meeting for 5th Grade families is Thursday, September 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Strongsville High School Auditorium.
