I lay down My life.... No one takes it from Me. (John 10:17-18)

Jesus chose to die for us out of His infinite, unconditional love for us. His life was not taken from Him - He purposefully and willfully laid it down in order that you and I might have eternal fellowship with God. Nobody else can love you as much as Jesus loved you in dying for you. A person may die on your behalf to save your life...but nobody else can ever die to save your eternal soul. No sacrifice that any other person makes can ever equal what Jesus has done on your behalf.

Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings. (Psalm 17:8)

God will use various people and resources to provide for us. But HE is the source. Remembering that is the key to staying dependent. We have a tendency to confuse the gift with the giver.... When that happens, our loyalty and trust shift as well. We begin seeking things and people rather than God. Without realizing it, we become idolaters. God is the source of everything you need. Your children, job, spouse, and friends are only tools He uses to meet the needs in your life. He, however, is the source.

Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only does wondrous things! (Psalm 72:18)

God will not withhold anything from you that is rightfully yours as His child. God will not hide any aspect of His character from you. God will not deny you any promise that He makes in His word. God will not shut you away from any blessing that is for your eternal benefit or that is required for the fulfillment of your purpose on this earth. And best of all, God has already prepared for you all that you will need for every day of the rest of your life.

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. (John 15:7)

To abide in Christ is to be in union with Christ. It is to dwell in Him completely, without any part of our being kept outside Him. We are entirely submissive to Christ and subject to His command over our lives. We do not choose to do anything without Him. In fact, we can't succeed at doing anything without Him. Christ lives in us and we live in Him. As we abide in Him and in His teaching, we make our requests and receive God's provision.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

God's love and God's forgiveness go hand in hand. As do God's love and God's grace. When you accept God's grace, you rest in the knowledge that God is in control of your life.... He is responsible for the consequences and the fashioning of your life. As He leads you from person to person, task to task...you have an abiding sense that you are fulfilling His purpose in your life. That is the greatest feeling of fulfillment you can know.

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us. (Titus 3:5)

The only thing we can do when we realize that we have yielded to temptation, that we have sinned before God,...is to ask for God's forgiveness. No amount of self-justification will work.... We must come to God and humbly confess our sin, ask Him to forgive us and to free us from the guilt of our sin, and ask Him to help us to not sin again. And then we must begin again, determined that we will neither listen to Satan nor ponder the things that God has forbidden us to experience.

Wisdom is better than strength. (Ecclesiastes 9:16)

The person who is seeking to walk in wisdom is going to reflect often about his own relationship with the Lord and how the Lord desires to work in his life. He is going to want to please the Lord, to grow in his relationship with the Lord.... As we walk in wisdom, we see God's hand at every turn. We know He is with us. We become more and more familiar with His voice.... We don't merely know more about God - rather, we truly come to know God in a deeper and more intimate way.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who...has begotten us again to a living hope. (1 Peter 1:3)

God desires that we develop in our talents, aptitudes, and ministry gifts every day of our lives. We should never stop practicing or stop learning, no matter how experienced and skilled we may become.... God will not lead you to "become" something without aiding you to become the "best" you can possibly be in that area. He will not give you a talent and then fail to give you opportunities for discovering, using, developing, practicing, and perfecting it.

There are many plans in a man's heart, nevertheless the Lord's counsel - that will stand. (Proverbs 19:21)

If you are not fully aware today of the unique talents and gifts that God has given you...ask God to reveal those gifts to you.... Ask Him to help you develop them. Be sensitive to ways in which you might receive further training in your area of talent.... As you develop your talents, ask God to reveal ways in which you can use your talents for His glory. Don't wait until you are an expert. Part of the way to become an expert is to start using your talents for God's purposes.

We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand. (Ephesians 2:10)

I have met a number of people through the years who have been told from their childhood, "You'll never amount to anything." What a terrible message regarding a person's worthiness or value. The truth of God is what that person needs to hear!... You are so valuable that God desires to live with you forever. He desires to transform your sin nature into the very nature of Christ Jesus. He has a plan and purpose for your life, and He desires to help you fulfill that plan and purpose by giving you the Holy Spirit.
